Hey, I'm new here. Pissed at the jerking around of seeing the greatest rock act in it's classic format. Eat a dick? Watching Roth open for Bad Company down at the San Diego Open Air Arena was bad enough. The man stole the show but was a opening act none the less.

In my opinion, Roth should have shown up at the RRHOF at the very least to "sing and dance" for his dinner. If the sisters couldn't make it, who cares. If the shoe was on the other foot, the brothers would have shown and left Roth hanging.

I think Dave not going to the RRHOF was the best sign that the tour will probably happen. Dave knows if he goes, Eddie will be pissed off any any little thing Dave did. Dave is looking at the big picture. He knows he is the only way VH will tour again. Eddie knows this too, now. So Dave is taking every precausion to not upset the Van Halens. He wants this tour too much. If he thought the tour was not going to happen he would have been at the RRHF the week before ready to go. His excuse of course was awefull. Schaffer could have played Jump, just like he played for Hagar, or Im sure Dave would have sung Runnin w/ the Devil with VR,(no keys), for sure. It was a bad excuse, but when the tour comes everyone will have forgotten about it. VH can wait to play at the VH1 rock honors next year. I think VH1 is going to be the real Rock Hall of Fame in a couple of years anyway. RRHF is stupid. What does the Ronnetts have to do with ROCK. VH1 = Queen, Kiss, Judas Priest, Def Leppard, Genesis, Heart, Ozzy, ZZ Top, and next year Van Halen!!!! That rock! And Vh1 waits for the bands to reunite to induct them. DLRfann, you`ve brought up some good points with the controversy over the current RRHOF and how VH1 would have a better handle on things.

Yes, the excuse was aweful. Once I heard that Dave was being inducted, I had visions of the living legend basking in the limelight that he has been denied due to all of the BS that followed in his vacancy in 1985.

I look at the group as a band of factions. EVH and AVH are attached at the hip. Antony and Hagar are no different. This left Dave as the lone giggalo with other elements that would have hindered his time to shine and given the Van Halens the ammo needed if the chips were down once EVH gets out of the tank.

I`ve still got my fingers crossed that Dave will front the legendary band and allow those of us that were too young to see them live the dream we have all been waiting for.

DLRfann, I'm glad you like it. I heard it about 10 years ago when I was in San Diego, the Padres were making a run at the World Series title. The last time that the Padres did it was in 1984. The rock station at the time, 101.5 KGB was all over the Padres bandwagon and was letting everyone know that the last time the Padres were this good was when Van Halen's "1984" album was topping the charts. They would play CVH around the clock. Two for Tuesdays were basically sets of CVH between commercials. They would play two-hour sets at night called, "Get the Ed" out. All CVH with interviews of them back in the day. In a rare interview with all members except EVH on hand, Roth was in rare form. When I heard my Rothism, I nearly passed out from laughing so hard which wasn't good since I was at a traffic light. The interview basically handed the mike over to Roth and watch him take over the interview. He had a jam box with any kind of music blaring out of it. AVH and MA were knocking back whatever refreshment that had at the time.

One other thing that I remember about that interview was out the inteviewer was talking about in retrospect why EVH did not attend the interview. It was speculated that he was having a hard time handling the booze.

Let's hope that EVH can get himself dry and give all of us the reunion that we have been waiting for.

If it happens at all, I'd say we're looking at 2008 at the earliest. If Ed is in one of these thirty day "rehab" places (I use that term loosely too) then we may not see a sober Ed yet. You can't cure a lifetime of drinking heavy in just that short amount of time, no fucking way. He needs a serious, long term program in order to be deprogrammed. It's that or nuthin'. Placing him back in the very environment that started all of his bad habits probably isn't the best idea. So we may not get a tour. Shit happens.

Actually, you'll be surprised how well people can recover. Alice Cooper and Johnny Cash were a mess before they found Jesus and cleaned up. Maybe that's what Eddie needs, a sense of delusion without seeing pink elephants for a change. So while I see your point it's not all going to the shredder. I was resentful about the whole RnRHoF BS until someone explained it in another thread, so now I'm just waiting. Or I could go back to me pessimism and think well they've proved they're too selfish to give a shit about their fans so why should there be a tour. On the other hand, Eddie going in now is a sign he wants to get it right this time after all the cock ups. On another hand, I should stop typing and get a glass of water. *^_^* \m/
