Great list. I had to Google Johnny Thunder though.. Not familiar with the New York Dolls. Vinnie was cool with KISS. Never heard too much from the Vinnie Vincent Invasion. Do you play? If so, do you have a myspace site or somewhere I can listen to your stuff? I respect all styles of playing. SOME people around here talk crap about there playing, but they don't have a site for us to listen to their music. I think i'm the only one who has put a couple of places to hear my stuff. Take Care....

In my opinion, the 80's guitar players just kicks the shit out of players in any era. Of course i'm biased, I came of age in that era. White Lion had some songs on the cheezy side, but Vito's solo's were 2nd to none. Loved Warren's playing too, and his first name sounds kinda cool too. I wonder why?

In order of apearence in my life not first/best to last.

    1.Mark Farner-Grand Funk.

    2.Jimmy Page -Zep.

    3. The Nuge man!.

    4.Ed- Roth fronted VH

5.Hendrix should be slid into spot 2.

Some may scoff at Farner, but some gutsy unrefined rock layed down by this cat, the less skoolin the better for me, originality wins all.

Never heard of Wayne Kramer? It looks to me that you like a little versatility in your guitar taste.

In my opinion, Page was pretty sloppy live. He was awesome in the studio though.... The music that I put on this web-site, the vocals are influenced by GFR. Our Drummer/Singer loved GFR. "Shinin' On" was on our set-list.

this site only lets you up-load 4 songs. But has the lyrics.

    http://www.garageband.com/artist/blennd
This is an older site, but it has all the songs on the CD. Plus you can see what people from around the World has said about the songs, good or bad. You are an older guy like ourselves, so I think you'll dig some of the stuff. The styles should be right up your alley. Take care...

All- time best rock guitar players

    1. JIMI HENDRIX
    2. ERIC CLAPTON
    3. JIMMY PAGE
    4. EVH
    5. JEFF BECK

it's very easy to fall into the temptation of listing your favourite guitar players at the moment instead of thinking about rock history

I disagree with Padre Atilio's list, Nuno, Paul and John in the top five, you've got to check out more guitar players

Yep, probably the first band to really pave the way for using duel leads and harmony playing that became such a stock of metal later on. Priest and Maiden did it best, and really standardized it, but Lizzy paved the way.

    Fuckin' incredible band.

I used to think that way too.

Thin Lizzy were great pioneers and Priest and Maiden do have incredible partnerships, but...

...now I think King Crimson do the two guitar thing on a different level to everyone else. It`s not all doubled up riffs and twin harmonys but two interlocking parts that make no sense without each other with mindblowing arrangements and amazing...erm..."discipline". It must have been a lot of work for Robert Fripp and Adrian Belew (two guitarists who are equally famous for thier individual work) to get that stuff so tight, to the point where entire songs would consist of two intricately weaving guitar parts.

Anyone interested in some HOT guitar work should check out "Discipline", "The construKction of light", "The power to believe" or the excellent live "Absent lovers".

I don't wanna talk for Redball, but I think he was telling you to respect peoples opinions. That's all.... By the way you are shitting on these guitar players, you must be well known. What's the name of your big time band? And what web-site can we hear your music, so we can compare your playing to these boring players that you don't like.

    1. Eddie Van Halen
    2. Ace Frehley
    3. Jake E. Lee
    4. Dean DeLeo
    5. Jimmy Page

Doesn't have to be in that order, but they are some of my favourites.
The list should be longer though and include:

    Paul Gilbert
    Prince
    Nuno Bettencourt
    Johnny Winter
    Ronni Le Tekrř
    Ace Frehley
    Rick Nielsen
    Rory Gallagher

The title track of Discipline is exactly what you're typing about. The thing about that record, for me, is the way Belew just took it over. Elephant Talk is some LOL shit!!
