        I do also. Been playing since I was 14. That was 21 years ago! I felt after starting guitar, that if I played bass too, it would give me a more rounded knowledge of music and the instruments both.

                        As for guitar players playing bass, sure they can. But the question is, do they sound like a guitar player playing bass?

                          To be a converted guitar player can have various results. I had to learn the bass clef for a bit, then to go treble clef and learn that. If you can switch successfully between guitar and bass, then all the power to ya. Going from being part of the band front to being the backbone never happens overnight. But for some, it's happened!
