Rated wattage is all relative. I have a little 50 watt Sovtek Midget H amp that is louder than a lot of 100 watt amps. In fact, most guitar players don't want the extra power, they want the difference in tone that a different power amp setup gives you.

To Bubba, more wattage is like selling Trailer Court Racoon Fuck a Dodge V10 instead of a V8 that has the same power and torque. Racoon Fuck wants more cylendars. Bubba wants an amp that goes to 21. Crate markets to Bubba.

Let's see. In the 1960's Pete Townsend hit up Jim Marshall to build an amp twice as powerful with more speakers. The result was the 100 watt stack. Jim Marshall told Pete Townsend the roadies would hate hauling the big 8x12 speakers around. They did. So the speaker cabinet was made in two parts. Nowadays, most players use a half-stack or even a smaller combo through a PA system.

Only showboat assholes want the Crate Big Mona. I'm expecting to see a red one with a yellow Cabo Wabo logo on it sometime in the future.
