The specifications of Fender Japan's 50s and 60s models more closely matched an original than did the early American Vintage reissues...

Two major differences on all Japanese Fenders are the body and the pickguard. They are cut different. For example, a Jap pickguard will not fit on any American body...

A Mexico made body will accept an American pickguard...

I HATE the hardware on Mexi-Strats...it's beyond flimsy...I have a Mexi vintage Bridge laying around, wouldn't use it for anything other than a paper weight...

The new Mexico made reissues are very very nice, suprisingly so...

Install a Callaham bridge, new pups and maybe new screws and you will have a damn good guitar for not a lot of dough...

For instance, this guitar went for $459 on ebay...



I almost bought it but I'm in and out of the dentist right now and I need my play money...



These are painted really nice and the quality of the wood is supposed to be good...




Like I said, change the hardware and the pups and you have a really nice guitar...

And these are NOT to be confused with the Standard series from mexico...THEY SUCK!

One of my favorites from the 80's. BC Rich Strat w/Dimarzio Super Distortion and some old strat pickups.



And my favorite bass.... The one I could not live without..... 1981 Ibanez Blazer Bass. I'll get a better pic and post it. I'd never seen a pickup like this before. Plays better than a Precision and sounds exactly like a high end vintage P bass. It was $50.00 used.

While certainly a great guitar, 860 Euros is madness!

I played a friends Gretsch ProJet awhile back. It looks like your Gretsch has the same pickups. Those things sound great.

Thanks! I decided against the torty shell idea, and just slapped a piece of black plastic on it...with wood screws I found in the garage.

OK, just got home from BBQing and drinking with friends. So, with nothing better left to do:

Aria Les Paul, 1980, set neck, sandwich body, just like the Japanese, if they copy they copy right!



and on the other end of the spectrum, a Fernandes Retrorocket Pro, with sustainer and all.

Here´s another Fernandes, probably pre lawsuit parts put together and shipped to Europe. 50s Strat style and feel. I put in the red pups for looks!



and, since a guy can´t have too many Strats, my pre lawsuit Fernandes "The Revival" 62 Strat.

The "The Revival" series 62 Strats also look good in sunburst. And, since I have a lefty and a righty, I switched necks for looks!

This axe is one that I'm STILL kicking my ass for not buying.

It's a 1995 American Standard in my dream Surf Green (not the minty nor seafoam) with a matching headstock. It was one of those where I kept calling the seller's collective bluff and lost.

Again, both if/when I build another Strat, this one 'tis EXACTLY what I wanna do...
