My New Guitar Project !!

I've kinda had this idea for a long time and it seemed to just come together today...

The body is a 2006 SRV that has the left hand whammy bar and I always thought this would be the perfect way to play a Stratocaster upside down...

I won this body today for $228...AWESOME!!!

I've seen these go for nearly $600 !!

Not a scratch on it...




The neck is a 1997 1st generation small headstock, scalloped rosewood fretboard Yngwie Malmsteen neck!!!

And although I prefer large headstock Strats, I like the small headstock on the early Yngwie Strats. The large headstock on the Yngwie model is too busy with decals, and the wrong trussrod for a large headstock (apperance wise)...

I won this neck for $299...again...AWESOME!!!

I've seen these necks go for well over $600 !!



The neck has one tiny flaw where someone added an additional string tree...but since I play upside down I'm gonna add another tree mainly to cover the hole...




Gold Anodized Pickguard should set it off nicely...


Also, the same guy who I won the body from has this Fender USA Malmsteen wired pickup assembly that consists of a Dimarzio HS-3 in the bridge position and two Dimarzio YJM pickups in the neck and middle positions...







I cant wait !!

Maybe I should put a Jimi Hendrix pickguard assembly on it...

Then I would have a SRV YJM JMH Stratocaster...

Here's another SRV body on ebay for $449

It's not nearly as colorful as the one I'm purchasing...

Sometimes they're really bright yellow and red and sometimes they are kinda like a dull orange with not much color separation...



I won the body for a lot less than most of the Mexican bodies go for on ebay...

It's a hard tail '55

I'm going to send the neck out to be finished in a period correct Nitrocellulose lacquer with a new decal as well...

Is Fender going to do that? I know (whilst trying to buy a decal. lol) that they have a very strict policy. Did you have to send them a serial number from the back of the neck or were they even printed back then?

I mean, you scored the holiest of holy's with that strat, I'm just curious as to how Fender handles such a find with serial numbers, etc?

The serial number on a '55 is stamped into the neck plate, so there's no mistaking that...

It was a pretty cool neck and for being so thin, I actually liked it. Again and as I've probably told you a gazillion times, I just don't dig rosewood fretboards.

Speaking of the neck and guitar, my drummer and I got into a bit of shit over the whole thing.

The guy who left it FOR FIVE YEARS came back due to the funeral of a mutual friend that I told you about. Anyway, he started asking about all of his gear. The dude's such a stoner, it's like "WHO MOVES AWAY FOR FIVE YEARS, LEAVES A BUNCH OF GEAR AND THEN WANTS IT BACK?!?!?!?!?!?" Especially when the drummer and the stoner weren't even good friends to begin with. lmao

So and yeah, the stoner wants me to replace that Ibanez neck and I'm like "SCREW YOU DUDE!!!" the drummer GAVE me that axe for helping to clear out the rehearsal space. PLUS, you've been gone for five years and you apparantly gave up said axe in a dope deal with the drummer, so leave me out of it moron!!!

Anyway. that makes me hope you enjoy it even more!!! Not meaning to offend anyone but it just goes to show what dope does to people.

Some of those SRV Stratocasters are beautiful...







I can imagine it with a scalloped Yngwie neck, gold hardware, aged plastic parts instead of the pure white plastic and a gold anodized pickguard...

I don't care much for the light Pau Ferro wood on the fretboard, makes it look like the Mexican Standard neck. Also the SRV neck is thick and chunky while the Malmsteen neck is slim and feels very comfortable...

This may turn out to be quite a guitar...

I was trying to explain to some of ya'll how much of a good deal that SRV body is for a measly $228 for a perfect body without a scratch...

Look how much this went for! I was considering passing on the SRV and bidding on it back when it was only at $100 or so...

I paid $299 with the vintage tuning keys...



I don't care for the large headstock on the Yngwie model. Too busy or something...

I like the small headstock of the first generation Yngwie model...

Pied piper got in a big lawsute and lost everything , The owner of herberts music died and thay closed the place down , hatchers went under about 2 years ago , fret and feddle went to pa gear only .. So there is one shitty store in charleston , huntington is so bad with the meth heads that i dont go down there much .. And im about 20 min from charleston .. glasscow
