I don't think anyone is really being hard on Pac Man. He is a true talent.

BUT... We are talking about Mayweather in comparison. I mean cmon.....

Lil Floyd is not only the best counter puncher of his generation, but IMO one of the best ever to lace em up.

Sorry, Manny. No disrespect but this fight wouldnt even be close.

Because talent-wise, he FAR eclipses Manny. No contest. Plus he's far better at adapting mid-fight, making adjustments to counter his opponent; Manny just keeps charging.

Bottom line, unless for some reason he forgets to show up - Floyd would destroy him. Agree he's got nothing to prove, and seems content to retire undefeated, but I'd REALLY like to see that fight happen.

So now BHop is talking about taking on Martinez?

I don't think anyone wants Sergio Martinez right now. The guy is in another league. I agree with what they were saying on the Martinez telecast the other night. The pound for pound guys are Nonito Donaire, Sergio Martinez, Manny and Floyd.

I was just going to bring Donaire into the discussion. He is REALLY special. It' a shame that guys at the lighter weights don't get the attention. I'd like to see him back in with Darchinian.

Martinez is a great talent, really something special. With all the hype around Kelly Pavlik or Paul Williams being 'saviours' of the middleweight division, it has taken a guy to come out of nowhere to really hold that mantle. I'm really not sure who there is for him to fight though - the Manny fight won't happen because Arum knows its too risky.

If by "too risky" you mean Manny might get knocked the F out by someone that big that's nearly if not as fast? I can't see that fight happening. I think Sergio would give Floyd problems too with his speed and power, but right now I think he gets hit far too much to be trading with a counter-puncher Floyd for too long w/o landing a hay-maker on him...if not he'd get worn down eventually

I don't think Martinez-Manny will happen either (if it did it would be 154). Martinez does get hit a lot, but I agree with you that his speed would be Manny's undoing.

Yep, think Manny would get embarrassed badly - much like I believe he ultimately would against Floyd. My question is - if the Martinez-Pacquiao fight DID happen at 154, would Martinez be completely sapped after making weight, as was De La Hoya?

I think it would be an issue - Martinez has bulked up a little since coming to 160. That being said, I doubt it would be enough to render him ineffective against Manny (or anyone else currently campaigning at 154.) if the $$$ were right, however, he'd drop the weight in a second, however.

My gut feeling is that if Cotto doesn't get Margaritto next, Marquez will be down at 154 to end his Miguel's career.

I'm curious to know if anyone thinks David Haye has much of a chance against Wlad Klitchsko.

Yeah, but remember we're only talking about 6 lbs. here. That might not drain him completely, and even if it did to a lesser degree he'd likely get Manny out early (JMM proved Manny can be rocked w/ a good counter left, and Martinez' is....well, ask Paul Williams...LOL) , endurance wouldn't be an issue unless it went the distance. I think it'd be more of an issue if he goes up to 168 to fight James Kirkland (IIRC) and then tries to come down to fight Manny.

I think JMM would pretty much destroy Cotto, too. Hell, to be fair, I think Marquez beat Manny and got robbed in that fight. Not so sure about the piss-drinking thing he does, but he is legendary for good reason.

I'm curious to know if anyone thinks David Haye has much of a chance against Wlad Klitchsko.
I'd love to say I think he's got a chance, his style is certainly more impressive and less robotic, but - does he have the chin to hang in there trading with Klitchsko? If so, would love to see it.

I don't know about Cotto-Marquez - Cotto might be a little too big. It's interesting though.

Haye certainly doesn't have the chin to hang with Wald, but no-one does. i haven't given this fight much thought, but my gut feeling his that Haye can't go 12 rounds without getting clipped with something decent. The question becomes: can he land his own big shots first. He has to get close to do that and, for all of his speed, I'm not sure he get's past Wlad's jab. Can't wait though.

I see the Jean Pascal vs B Hop rematch has been scheduled in Montreal at the Belle Center.
Way to step up there Jean. If i had gotten my ass kicked by an old man i would be scared to leave Canada too.

I actually like Jean Pascal a lot. Great fights with Froch (which was close), the 'Shark', and Dawson. I'd say over 160lbs he must be one of the best fighters in the world.

But Bhop has his number - you cannot make that many fundamental errors and win against Bhop. I really don't know who Bhop fights if he wins though - can't see him wanting Dawson....

Vitali Klitschko - Olandeer Solis this Saturday.

Solis has fast hands and a great skill-set, but he's his own worst enemy. He's weighed-in at 246lbs - lighter than normal, but he still looks well out-of-shape. I'm expecting to see another Vitali beat-down. Hopefully Solis will have his moments, however.

Vitali won by KO at the end of the first.

Solis looked to have fucked his leg up. Perhaps his knee went, or perhaps the shot to the temple turned his legs to jelly? Hard to tell. Either way, up until that point the round was even - Solis had picked some tasty shots.

I'm guessing this vid won't be up for long, but thought I'd share anyway:

Damn, that sucked ass. Thanks for the link, Bin.

You are right. That fight could have been very interesting. Solis was indeed landing some solid shots to the dome..... looked like Klitschko was a having a bit of trouble sizing him up.

He definitely fucked his knee up though. In the replays you can see when it buckled. Vitali barely touched him.

Lucian Bute looked very good as usual. He has become a prolific body puncher. Kessler was there scouting out Bute in hopes of fighting him next. That would be a very good fight but i am afraid Bute's speed may be a bit too much. I'll bet Bute versus Joe Calzage would have been a good one. I think Joe would have kicked his ass.

Solis is in surgery this Thursday, so the knee injury was genuine. Shame. Vitali looked very open - someone with fast hands and some mobility would cause him problems.

Bute looked good, but he was getting tagged too much. Magee is not a top tier fighter. Kessler is passed his best now, and after the lay-off I think it would be unwise to jump in with Bute. That being said, if Kessler gets his sharpness back, especially his jab, he might overwhelm Bute. Bute always looks impressive, but it's generally against poorer quality opponents. Calzaghe would have won a wide, wide decision against him.

A couple of good fights this weekend. Robert Guerrero vs. Michael Katsidis and Eric Morales vs Marcos Maidana. I am hoping "The Ghost" can win but i don't like his chances. In the other fight, i like Maidana to knock Morales out.

Agree with you re: Morales. He gets hit too much these days, and Maidana has decent power (though its exaggerated by some). A shot Morales gets retired I think. Shame.

At his best, Guerrero has way too many skills for Katsidis. However, Katsidis is relentless and as tough as they come, and it may be little too early in the 'Ghost's' comeback for him to best him. Katsidis has to win a big fight someday, and I think he will on Saturday. Too much pressure for Guerrero.

Wow, Maidanna-Morales was close. Morales showed his warrior spirit by pushing Maidanna to the edge. I had it a draw, but you couldn't call the decision in favour of Maidanna a 'robbery'. Two judges gave him it by 4 rounds, which is a joke. If Morales had started faster, he'd have won.

Guerro-Katsidis was great Guerrero looked like one of the best fighters in the world last night. He could rule the roost at 140 I think. His people should look at Kotelnik next, or Devon Alexander.

Morales, had he not been a one eyed fighter after the first round, would have probably knocked Maidana out. I must say i highly underestimated the HEART that Morales still has. What a damn warrior he is! He put a timeless performance last night and i am proud to say i purchased the pay per view largely to support Guerrero. Hopefully, there will be rematch between Morales and Maidana.
What can i say about the Ghost? He absolutely dominated Katsidis and made him look silly. After Katsidis yelled at him "what are you looking at" before the first round, Robert proceeded to whip the shit out of him. If i was Guerrero, i would go directly after Marquez. If he can't get him and who could blame Marquez for avoiding the fight, then i agree with the guys Binnie pointed out.

I think Marquez is too much at the moment. Plus, aside from JMM, who is there at 135? I think the Ghost should move up to 140 and start taking out the trash.

I think the abc belts that Ghost obtained Saturday night are ok on paper but i would hope that he would want to truly capture the real belt at his current weight, and that means going through JMM. It would also be the biggest possible payday of his career so far. If he were to lose but it be a great fight and a close one, there could be demand for a rematch, thus another big payday. Also, the way he dominated Katsidis demonstrates that he is ready for JMM. Katsidis and JMM was a touch and go fight up until its end with JMM being knocked down in the fight. Robert's height and youth should give him the edge over JMM. Also, Robert isn't just going to go into the pocket and trade all night giving JMM a chance to land the way he was able to do on Katsidis. Guerrero is no Floyd but his boxing ability is good enough to stay outside and box to win the fight.

It would certainly be a good fight, and one I'd like to see. However, I think JMM would be too clever and precise as it stands at the moment. I'd see the fight looking like JMM-Casamayora. I suspect that JMM will be looking for a bigger payday anyway.....

If I was Guerrero's manager, I'd be looking for a big fight against Maidanna or Kotelnik at 140. That opens up the chance of the winner of Amir Khan - Tim Bradley if they want it (Although Khan would be difficult for Guerrero because he's HUGE for 140.) Shit, even Paulie Malignaggi would be a good payday.

I see your point. Guerrero vs Maidanna would be a very entertaining fight and a big payday.

Amir Khan - Paul McClusky on Saturday.

This is a 'keep busy' fight for Khan, who has a unification fight with Tim Bradley waiting for him. McClusky is tough as nails, and there has been a lot of promotional problems with this fight which may have distracted Khan. I doubt it though. His speed will lead to a comprehensive win, probably with a stoppage around 8.

Well, Amir won via TD in round 6. Mcclosky was cut, although it wasn't really bad enough to stop the fight. Amir had won every round, but the fight was a stinker - Amir looked decidedly out of sorts and will have to be on better form to beat Tim Bradley.

Elsewhere, two big upsets: Victor Ortiz beat up Andre Berto; and Juan Manuel Lopez got Ko'd. Ortiz looked pretty handy at 147.

Vic Darchinyan beat up Johnny Perez last night. I imagine the Darchinyan-Donaire rematch will now get made, which could be good.

Vic looked very good. I believe Perez was thankful and fortunate for the fight to be stopped and go to the scorecards. Going back to last week, what a great fight with Berto and Ortiz. I would love to see a rematch in that one. The Lopez/ Solido fight was also a great one. I never understood how Robert Guerrero lost to Solido but now i do.

    if Ortiz-Mayweather doesn't come off I imagine we'll see and Ortiz-Berto rematch.

    Could Ortiz even hit Floyd?

I think his southpaw stance would give him some success for a couple of rounds. Then he'd be punching air.

I forgot to mention that i noticed when Maidana came out for his ring walk against Morales that he had Seek and Destroy playing. I thought that was pretty cool. I wonder how that came about as i seriously doubt Maidana has ever heard of Metallica but i could be wrong.

Metallica are big everywhere that has electricity. I imagine Maidanna picks his own music.

If you get chance, check out Kid Chocolate's dismantling of Jesse Brinkley. Definitely one to watch.
