I don't like Guererro's chances against Mayweather either. Floyd is still too fast for him.

    Two big fights coming up:

    Miguel Cotto - Austin Trout

Despite significant height and reach advantages it's hard to see Trout winning this. Cotto may be getting old in boxing terms, but you have to figure that he has too much left to lose this one. I don't see a stoppage, but Cotto by UD.

Manny Pacquiao - Juan Manuel Marquez IV

What is there to say that hasn't been said? JMM is now very old, but Pacman has not looked great in his previous efforts. Against Bradely his famous relentless work-rate was reduced to burst, meaning that he might not be able to take rounds on workrate alone this time out against JMM. It also seems that JMM has put on some genuine muscle - perhaps he'll be able to stun Pacman more significantly this time out.

Personally, I expect we'll get another cracking fight- and then the judges will rob JMM of yet another rightful victory.

Very controlled performance by Fury - Jonson is a good heavyweight (by today's standards) who is a negative fighter (and therefore hard to look good against). Can't imagine that Vitalli will stick around to fight Fury, so I can see a situation where Fury fights Arreola for the WBC belt in 2013. Mental - it's a shocking era for the heavies.....

Yeah mmmmm ,I did see a different side to fury and Johnson wasn't up to much in as much he never looked in trouble but neither did he in any way look a threat .
Think I would like to see a price fury match up.
Overall am still not convinced that Tyson is any thing other than very ordinary.

Aside from ageing a little, this fight showed that Cotto really isn't big enough to be competitive with the natural 154lb guys. He fought bravely (although I thought he was going to quit from a body shot at one point), but size said it all.

    Kudos to Trout. Great performance

Trout-Alvarez next? Trout-Lara? Plenty of tasty fights at 154.

As for Cotto, who knows? Will he go back to 147? Cotto-Bradley is a good fight........

    We'll find out soon.

I beat the shit out of Audley Harrison round the back of that skip (though Audley told me afterwards he still thinks he's on his way to being the Heavyweight Champion of the world) and I can now announce that I'll be fighting Tyson Fury outside a Liddel at a date to be confirmed in the not too distant future.

I'm giving away 5 stone and 8" in height, but that doesn't seem to have deterred any of Fury's other opponents so I figured, fuck it.....

    The guardian's commentary :

    Marquez has won!

That was sensational - Pacquiao was looking the stronger and then in the final ten seconds of the round, pacquiao came forward only to lean straight into a huge right hand counter that send him to the canvas. Pacquiao was lying prone, face first on the canvas for quite some time...

    5.52am:
    Round six

There's a huge amount of blood over Marquez's face. Pacquiao is coming forward now, tasting his opportunity. That left jab of Pacman's is doing most of the damage. Right at the end of the round Marquez catches Pacquiao with a huge right and Pacquiao is down. Unable to get back up even though that shot came right at the bell. Marquez has won!

    5.48am:
    Round five

Pacquiao still throwing more left jabs than right. And it's one of those that finally counts: And then Marquez is down - only as far as his left glove. He takes a short standing count. Pacquiao senses victory and charges forward. Marquez looks hurt and wobbles. Pacquiao looks desperate to make his edge count, but can't land a decisive blow. And there's a cut to Marquez's nose.

Guardian unofficial score: Pacquiao 10-8 Marquez.

    5.43am:
    Round four

Southpaw Pacquiao lands several left jabs, but Marquez looks determined, set on his course. As Pacquiao attacks he leaves himself open to some good left jab counters from the Mexican. The pair trade shots in several little explosive bursts. Mrs Pacquiao looking anxious ringside.

Guardian unofficial score: Pacquiao 10-10 Marquez.

    5.39am:
    Round Three

Pacquiao moving forward trying to land his big straight lefts - some land, most don't. Marquez is responding by throwing big lefts to the body. And then a huge right from Marquez sends Pacquiao to the canvas. Huge punch. Pacquiao up swiftly but there is no doubt that he was stunned by that big punch. There's a real old scrap at the end of the round as Pacquiao comes back. But that was a dramatic moment.

Guardian unofficial score: Pacquiao 8-10 Marquez.

    5.35am:
    Round two

Pacquiao the first to land a decent combination. Marquez cautious but finally lands a decent bodyshot. Pacquiao also finally lands a pair of good left hand shots to Marquez's head. At the end of the round the Mexican maneouvres Pacman into the corner, but doesn't follow up. An extremely cautious start by Marquez. Do these boxers know each other too well? Is there anything either can do to surprise the other?

Guardian unofficial score: Pacquiao 10-9 Marquez.

    5.31am:
    Round One

The pair bouncing around, neither committing too much too early. The crowd clearly behind Marquez. Pacquiao ducking, moving his head a lot to avoid Marquez blows to the head. Pacquiao the more aggressive, but only fractionally. Certainly not a first round like the one all those years ago when they first met.

Guardian unofficial score: Pacquiao 10-10 Marquez.

Two ways to go with this: Either the Mayweather fight never happens now, OR Pac, having no lost all bargaining power, agrees to Floyd's demand he take the lesser PPV purse for said fight, which IIRC was the last stumbling block after all the testing was agreed to...

True, JMM just gave Floyd the blueprint of how to beat him... Mayweather could time shots like that on him all night.

Pac just isn't all there since he got busted fucking around and had his spiritual "awakening", his heart doesn't seem to be in the game anymore. I'd be surprised if he fights again or if he does it's just some sort of cupcake so he can go out with a win.

Any Paq fans have any arguments left that Paq-fraud can even lace Floyd's boots?

Good fight. JMM is my favourite active fighter, and I'm glad it ended well for him (for me, he won the 1st and 3rd fights).

The difference this time was power. Last time out, JMM came up from 135 to 147 and his body wasn't that of a 147 fighter. This time it was, and his punches had more on them. If you watch the fight, watch his body work - he was hurting Pacman every time he hit him, and it slowed Pacman down a little. The knockdown in the third was superb, but the KO was just a masterclass of counterpunching - it reminded me of Hatton-Mayweather the way Pacman was lured into running onto the shot.

Up until then it had been like all of their fights: close!. JMM picking his shots and landing the cleaner work, Pacman darting and weaving and throwing those craxy combinations (many of which miss). Pacman was in it throughout - Lederman had him ahead after 5 (which is utter bullshit) and I'm not sure I buy the lines about him 'fading'. I think the difference is that in Bradley and JMM he's facing guys who know about timing, know about defence, and aren't there to be hit. Pacman's performances against Cotto and Margaritto were astonishing, but those guys have no defence and (in hindsight) were tailor made for his relentlessly fast fists.

As JMM has always shown, put him in with a boxer and he struggles. Still a greater fighter, but not an invincible one.

JMM-Bradley next? That's a great fight. Guess it all depends on who Floyd wants on May 5th.

Dudes, if you want to see another spectacular KO check out Mikkel Kessler beating Brian Magee last night. He put him down 3 times with body shots, and they made me wince!

Styles make fights, and Floyd's style has always been - and will always be - wrong for Pacman. I'd say this, however: since Floyd has begun to age Pacman has his best ever chance of beating him. Floyd doesn't use his feat any more, and if he provides a static target for Manny then Pacman will have some success against him. That being said, I think Floyd's straight right would be landing at will all night, I think that he would tie Pacman up and fight close (not many think that, put Pacman does not like to fight inside) and I also think that Floyd's body work would be Pacman's undoing.

If Arum thinks Pacman is near the end, then the Floyd fight might actually happen........

They're certainly both nearing the end - and I think everyone would have liked the fight to have happened 4 years ago - but it is still a fight people would like to see: aggressive fighter vs defensive fighter; skill vs power and so on, it has plenty of things to like.

Can't imagine either guy is particularly pleasant, but then again I can't imagine being 'nice' is an attribute which helps if you're a boxer

No interested in the games boxers play anymore...and this fight should have been forced to happen 5 or 6!years ago...but it wasn't because nobody cares to fix how the governing bodies work...

Honestly, I'm jus sick of "professionals." There are guys that are strategic douchebags (Ali), and guys that r just douchbags...

Have to agree with the governing bodies.

If we could have one governing bodies, we would essentially take promoters out of the equation.......

Between governing bodies and greedy promoters they at times seem hell bent on killing off the sport .

It's like anything, really. If you look hard enough you see good fights.

This weekend I saw Mikkel Kessler - Brian Maggee (yeah, I knew who was going to win; but Maggee is a top nothc fighter whose been knocking on the door of a world title for years)

JMM - Pacman IV (who can complain about that? So good people are laready hankering after no.5)

James Degale - Zuninga (very entertaining fight and some great skills shown).

And Trout-Cotto the week before was sensational

It would undoubtedly be better if there weren't so many belts etc, but great fights are still happening. Froch-Kessler II is bound to happen next year, for instance....

Magee is a tough customer who's been mixing it with the best, not an easy match for anyone.

But those body shots who brutal.
