he talked about it in his book crazy from the heat, something about a crazy doctor trying to fix him or something, i guess the next week they were supposed to do some big ass concert and dave just took it like a man and played anyways.
ok heres the story, page 4 crazy from the heat.
van halen played the piper club in rome. the place was famous because the beatles played there.
they were shooting vh for a television show, dave say that when the lights go out he counts to three and they turn the lights while hes in midair after jumping.
they practiced it a few times, theres a mirror ball 15 feet in the air,he says it worked beutifully .
they get ready to shoot it for the real show. the stage is pitch black, they are waiting forthe live tv feed 38 seconds in the dark.
nobody tells him that they are lowering the mirrored ball, its only 7 feet off the deck now, he says.
he gets down in a croutch and they say in 1,2,and 3 the lights come on and he launches himself skyward.
he says, do you know that feeling when catastrophe is unavoidable,and everything goes in slow motion,and your like an innocent bystander watching it all happen?
he says , my nosesaw the ball first,and said in very slow motion "hey ball" and the ball said,"hey nose"
cut back into full time fast motion,BAM!
i just crunched my nose bigtime, slammed into it full speed ahead.
come down on the stage with my head in my hands, bleedin all over the place.
he goes on about the fucked up doctors and its a pretty good story.
but thats the story.
He said he looked like ADAM ANT...with the tape on his nose

the thing that stuck with me the most from his book is that he really does not have a friend in this world, or nobody he considers a friend,other than his family.
he tells some cool stories also.
he tells a good one about partying with ozzy osbourne when they first met.
they got so fucked up on cocaine that ozzy went missing and everyone thought he was abducted.
theres some good pictures in the book also.
