If you listen closely, you'll hear Ronnie in the background doing the "Jump! Jump!" bit. He came in on his birthday and recorded the parts for Pat.

I bought this when it first came out...I couldn't resist it...certainly got Pat in a LOT of trouble with the Christian community, since heavy metal is so God damned fucking evil and satanic, you know. So much so to the point where he had to publically renounce his wickedness and beg forgiveness.

Another reason on the pile of why organized Christianity is the fucking dumbest thing ever.

Who fucking cares? Yeah the songs are hysterically bad... but I had to give him props for going against the grain and making a heavy metal inspired album. I didn't know he had to beg for forgiveness. He should have kept his foot down, and stood by his album. I can't remember how many beers I've had listening to this piece of shit . lol

Yup...he was publically denounced by the Christian community for the whole thing and had to come out, say it was a gimmick, apologize, the whole bit, all before he could get back into anybody's graces. I agree, were I Pat I would have put my foot down as well; the idea that he should have had to make acts of contrition for recording significantly toned down metal tunes is stupid.

Did you hear his version of "Panama"?

    That was errm, interesting.

Can't believe he got slammed by the Christian community for that, I just don't see how it's offensive.

He was fired from "Gospel America" and TBN (Trinity Broadcasting Network) openly denounced his "conversion to heavy metal and abandonment of wholesome Christian virtues", or something to that effect.

After he apologized and said he was, essentially, "only kidding", they then said he was "being a parody of himself", forgave him and gave him his job back...

I don't remember for certain, but I think his label dropped him and cancelled an upcoming 'traditional' tour he was working on during the whole thing as well...

He worked with a lot of great musicians on the album, though, for sure. In addition to Ronnie James Dio doing some background vocals on "Holy Diver", Ritchie Blackmore, Dweezil Zappa, Marco Mendoza, Gregg Bissonette and Sheila E also showed up on the album in different places as well.
