As brilliant as Dave was with early VH, the latter part of his solo career was spent jumping from one gimmick to the next (at least, musically).
He absolutely hungers for the spotlight, in any capacity, which was an asset to his peak years with VH, but a bit pathetic further down the road.
I do respect DLR for sort of laying low since the dreadful bluegrass tribute, though.
There is one DJ here in Boston that often plays bits of Dave's remake of "Jump", usually after a classic VH song, and says, "Dear God, what the heck was Dave thinking,?"
It's sad, because Roth should be remembered as the genius frontman of classic VH, and the brilliant lyricist & vocalist on something like "Women & children first."
I don't want people to look at him as that former rock God that now appears on "The View."

Dave's career dived for many reasons. malcolm Dome wrote, dave lost many fans after skyscraper,, The problem with dave was he began to emulate those who he once influenced (poison,skid row). He was trying to compete with the young hot rods. HE was no longer as attractive to girls as his hair was thinning fast and his face was showing signs of aging.
After Dave's first post VH record and tour, it became abundantly clear that what we were getting was a VH cover band with the original singer. Seeing Dave w/o the other guys lost its luster. That and his shtick never changed. Dave can shamelessly say the same line for over 20 years (e.g., "and after the show I'm gonn a fuck your girl friend"). Gets old.
