I'll give whatever Sam and Ed come up with for BOV2 a listen before I decide. Just like all the other stuff they did.

Having said that, nothing they've done has impressed me so far, so I'm not counting on this new stuff to, either.

The impression Sammy has always given me is of just an average guy who has to work at being a rock star. His image is very forced. With Dave, it's all second nature. Hagar has yet to show me anything outstanding lyrically, vocally or in terms of composition that I would be unable to hear from a local bar band's originals inserted between cover tunes.

Essentially, Hagar turned Van Halen from an extraordinary band to an ordinary one. Where Halen stood out from the pack, Hagar was just another hair band with a better-than-average guitarist. The element of normalcy is what Sam brings to the table when he is in Van Halen.
