Just goes to show how talented Dave is. Seriously, that riff proves it. It (the riff and song) could go any way. Dave hated it but put his own groove to it. I'm one of the few that happens to love "I'll Wait" cos of Dave. He takes a cheesy 80's synth riff and Van Halenize's it. IMO

Seriously, "I'll Wait" has always blown "Jump" out of the water, IMO. Sure, it's more melodic but Dave delivered attitude. Hate to do this but take his replacement and it coulda/woulda turned into a lame-ass, lovey/dovey/candyassed power ballad. Again, not to say Dave hasn't put out some less than desirable stuff. Example, I've always stated that "Just Like Paradise" is a kick ass, 80's, Beach Boys-Style pop tune and I love the song!!!

Now, the same cannot be said for his entire solo catalogue cos shit like "Stand Up" 'tis fucking horrible!!!

I'm just sayin' that the "I'll Wait" riff could/can obviously go anywhere and by hearing that skankish version, it makes me dig the original that much more due to the fact of how it both could and can be butchered.

Those are two songs I never thought I would hear mashed up.

Not VH related, but my favorite mash-up has to be some random 50 cent song with the Jungle Book song. I don't even know what the original song sounded like, but this one is too awesome. Stick with it at least to the chorus, because the chorus is worth it.

I agree with the riff thing. That song in Roy's hands would have blown like Katrina baby but Dave put lyrics to it that made it sound like Van Halen. I still think lyrically its a solid song even though the riff makes it sound dated.

I don't watch american idol but I think KC can blow when she does it in moderation. If she could teach CA to do that it would probably prolong her career and seperate her from just another Mariah wannabe. CA just exaggerates every fucking note and it hurts my ears.

Having said that, this was just wrong on every level.
