    The VG Strat

    http://www.fender.com/vgstrat/home.html

I can't wait for them to come out with bass models.

The ability to go to Drop D, Open G, D Modal (DADGAD), Low B (Baritone), and 12-string with the twist of a knob...awesome! Electric and Acoustic as well as sitar...w00t!

If you haven't been to a Guitar Center lately...get there and test drive this one.

    Because we're cooler than all.

Actually, some of the alternate tunings were available on the last version of the Roland GR synth...they're kind of weird feeling, though the 12-string was cool.
I'm curious as to how lifelike the humbucker emulations and whatnot sound...
I imagine it would be really useful if you were in a Top40 cover band...

They sound so close that you wouldn't want to reach for another instrument!

Fender hit a HOMERUN where Line6 couldn't. Their guitar feels like a toy...Fender, well it feels like a Fender!

Yeah, it's not for no reason Warmoth is selling a ton of those Variax-to-Strat conversion kits...

I haven't played this thing yet, but I'd be willing to give it a go. I remember being wowed by the original Roland VG-8 system years ago, not really because it had all the amps and effects, but because it could do wacked tunings and such. I'm sure they've come a long way with the tonal quality from the old systems. I've played a Variax before, and just wasn't impressed....

I guess that's why you guys get all the girls too. By the way J, I see you liked my "prominent liberal" label I gave you a few months back. Glad to know that my blabber will live on around here.

Dude, that quote was some of the funniest shit ever. It had to go in the sig.

Chicks do dig guitarists, it's true...Funny, a few gigs back I had my own little harem of 20-somethings on my side of the stage...
much to the chagrin of my singer...
Pretty cool job perk, if you ask me...

Not to get off topic, though. I was reading the Guitar World review of the VG Strat, and while I'd check one out too, I'd STILL end up swapping the neck out on it...

What kind of music does your band play? Do you guys have a web-site so I can hear your tunes? I love all styles from Elvis to CVH. PM me if you have some songs I can hear. I'm not a type of musician who talks crap about other musicians stuff. So I would love to hear your playing.

No. The push/pull pots on the Jimmy Page Les Paul were for parallel/series, and phase switching. Page did have a Les Paul that was equipped with the Transperformance Tuning system, but that wasn't an option for his signature Les Paul. The Transperformance system doesn't model tunings...it actually retunes the guitar to the desired tuning.

Interesting to note that the latest custom shop Page Les Paul only has one push pull pot for parallel/series switching. It is an actual copy of his Number One. The old Page signature from the mid-90's wasn't.

That's the beauty of this one.

You're playing some AC/DC and then shift into some Van Halen with the flick of a knob you're in Drop D. No grabbing another guitar, no tuning the one strapped on you, just twist the knob and you're there.
