Country Music...My God does it suck..

As some folks here know...I play High School Football...And I live in a semi-rural area, And the popular thing to be is to be a Redneck...Talk about hunting, All that shit...I'm not so much into that stuff..And All My Team Mates listen to is Cuntry...And my God does it suck...Don't get me wrong, I love Johnny Cash and people like him...But this country is just lame and very formulaic...But I will Bet one thing..That a lot the Guitarists Were All in Hair Bands in the 80's...That never made it, and they probably saw this as a new way to make money...

anyways...Anyone else Agree that Modern Country sucks ass?

    It is horrible.
And God heard the voice of the lad. Then the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven, and said to her, “What ails you, Hagar? Genesis 21:17

    New Counrty sucks moose cock!

I like most pre 1979 country. The only new one worth listening to is Hank Williams III

Country music went straight to Hell at the beginning of this decade when two things happened...

    1) Garth Brooks retired

    2) Nashville started signing right wing propagandists pushing bullshit war messages (Toby Keith, Darryl Worley, etc.) as opposed to actual talented artists.

Keith Urban & the Dixie Chicks are about the only "modern country" I can listen to.

I'll take Hank III over Hank II. But not over Hank I.

And the old guard seems to be slipping away one by one..... Waylon and Johnny Cash, in recent years. Willie's still out there, but even he's tired of country. His last album was reggae of all things. And Merle Haggard was a damn prophet when he sang of "our highways and bridges falling apart" in his recent his "America First".

So country's not entirely shit, that's just what the Clear Channel stations play.

Not my first choice of music, but older country took a degree of talent to play.

Today's pop-country stuff does nothing for me.

Yes Songs like RedNeckYauchtClub and Honkytonkbadonkadonk are just as bad as Rap.

"Song song Song of the South Sweet Potato Pie and I shut My Mouth"

This Shit Song This Song they still play all the time. If I was Southern I would not want my song to have such Dumb ass lyrics

Merle Haggard is an original Gangsta fer shore, though.
"It's just not an option for me to go and watch some other band — who are only performing because they have some new record coming out — do our music," Roth said. "I have nothing against Velvet Revolver — I'm not familiar with their music — but that was my 3 minutes and 22 seconds up there."

no the song of the south song is cool, if you have ever been around the culture and the people you would also think so its just an ode to how people are and the culture.

FORD garth brooks, although I love his music, is the beginning of pop country.

dixie chicks and urban are as pop as it gets.

I know Toby Keith claims to be a "Democrat". I also know he campaigned for Chimpy, played at some Chimpy coronation event and hangs out with Hagar and Nugent..

The Dixie Chicks are Democrats. Willie Nelson is a Democrat. Faith Hill & Tim McGraw are Democrats. I don't know for a fact whether Garth Brooks is a Democrat, but he appeared at Live Earth, and recorded the song "We Shall Be Free", and I don't see a Republican doing either of those things......

Well, what well and truly disturbs the Force is that their are so many amazingly kickass country songs out there that never go anywhere.

Someone in the family created a brilliant debut album for a major label here they were signed to.

They got dropped the day after the album was mastered.

The album will never see the light of day, though perhaps some songs can get placed with other artists.

But in order to release it, the label needs to get 'reimbursed' for a little over $300,000 in recording expenses. So it sits.

    Nobody will ever hear it.

It slays many, many country albums being released these days.

Wonder why they shelved it? Nobody will ever tell....so nobody will ever know.

And the people are the ones missing out. Or in music industry language, "the aggregate consumer demographic".

Sure as hell does, guess they're all trying to appeal to the family values crowd with the lame-ass clean lyrics. WTF ever happened to honky-tonkin, drinkin, fighting and 4 wheeling country?

Not to mention Protools being used for robotic-like backup vocals. I also think Shania Twain should spend more time placing her mouth on a cock instead of a Mic.

I just don't know what would draw anyone to country music. It is so god damned generic. I'm just glad I'm not forced to listen to it at work or anywhere, or my opinion would be a lot more forceful.

There were some country songs on the last grand theft auto that were great. The old stuff rules, just like in Rock.

Nah, she started using a mic after she got her record contract...
Why settle for something you have, if it's not as good as something you're out to get?

There were some talented country artists like the late and great Johnny Cash but then most of it sounded like Insest squaking over music that was the audio version of what a barnyard smelled like.

The new country is a bad copy of 1980's rock and roll. Notice the cowgirls have big hair lost in the 1980's. The new country artists think they are Bon Jovi.

Here's some funny country song titles

    1. Get Your Tongue Outta My Mouth 'Cause I'm Kissing You Goodbye

    2. Mama Get The Hammer (There's A Fly On Papa's Head)

    3. Get Your Biscuits In The Oven And Your Buns In The Bed

    4. And There Was Grandma, Swingin' on the Outhouse Door, Without a Shirt On

    5. If Drinkin' Don't Kill Me Her Memory Will

    And a joke too

A newly graduated doctor gets a job at the morgue. When he is going through the bodies he discovers a body with a cork in the crack of its butt. After much debate, he decides to take out the cork. When he pulls it out suddenly he hears country music. When he puts it back in, it stops. Puzzled, he goes to his advisor and tells him what happened. The advisor says, "You think that's strange??" "Yes! Don't you?!" replies the young doctor. "Well," said the advisor," any asshole can play country music."

Shit, even the videos are 80's hair band-esqe. Considering the fact that top 80's video director Wayne Isham headed out to Nashville after hair rock was destroyed (thank god) in the early 90's.

Actually, the current state of country music here in Gnashville is that it is right now at the place Lynyrd Skynyrd was back in 1976.

They have infused enough rock into country, that it is now Southern Rock.

And yes, tons of peeps who were in rock bands back in the 80s are now doing country. Most famous of these is Martina Mcbride.

Then there is someone those of you who know a lot about VH history will recall....Mitch Malloy. He has been playing guitar backing up country artists for awhile now.

It is no wonder Johnny Cash won those Grammys back in the 90s. Rick Rubin had the right idea. He wanted to produce some Johnny Cash country albums, done the way they should be....acoustically.

For the most part, country music these days is homogenized, super-polished pop SHIT.

I don't particularly have a problem with it.

And besides, from what I can gather from the bits of research I have pieced together, rock and roll was originally a fusion of blues and country...so without it you wouldn't have anything to listen to.

    Modern country mostly sucks.

Waylon, on the other hand, fucking RULES. Nobody could disagree with that!

The old Outlaw cats, they were cool. I mean, Outlaw Country basically had rock 'n' roll values with the sentimental side of country. It was all about freedom. Freedom to write and record your own music. Freedom to party. Freedom to wear what you want. Freedom to grow yer god damn hair.

This cookie-cutter stuff today is a far cry from what Waylon and co. fought for. There are a few guys and girls doing it right, though. Shooter Jennings is great. Sure, his music is probably more rock than country most of the time, but he's doing what his father did: he's telling the establishment that he'll be making his own music, whatever it should be called, and that's the way it's going to be.
    Waylon Jennings: 1937-2002. RIP, Hoss!

Country music these days sounds like a bunch of top 40, pop, bubblegum bullshit, and just about every song sounds the fucking same! I've never been a big fan of country, but now, more than ever, I can't fucking stand it at all, and here in East Texas, it's everywhere and highly difficult to avoid! Just about every radio station around these parts is a country station, and the closest rock station around here is 98.9 in Shreveport, LA, which, luckily, has a strong-ass signal that allows me to pick it up clearly from 60+ miles away. On the subject of country, does anyone else here hate Rascal Flatts like I do? Damn do they fucking blow! Their singer sounds like a fucking bitch!

I've never been so desperate for music that i actually turned country music on to try and satisfy my appetite. there's nothing fucking going on, certainly not any exciting guitar playing. same goes for that rap crap.
