"people" will be "in place" for the shows.

Most of "Cheetoh-Mania" was bootlegged in 04. I expect the same for this.

I have 2 great seats in section C124 (club level) that I'm looking to get rid of.

Email me at classicvh7885@yahoo.com if interested.
Before I always said I always liked Van Halen with David Lee Roth. Now I have to say I like Van Halen with David Lee Roth & Michael Anthony. It's just too much!

Guess I will be the first to post a review.

Best show I have ever attended. First time seeing Dave with Van Halen so I was not fortunate to see them in their prime. However I watched three boots today from Brazil, Argentina and Largo and while those may have had more energy, it sounded better tonight. Of course everything I am typing here is based on what I heard through a wall of sound. It may sound very different on a boot.

I made this comment on the links but the difference between hearing Eddie tonight vs the first show is like that compared to 2004. He was using a dryer sound, very rarely used the wah and seemed to be nailing parts he had difficulty with two weeks ago. My friend who is a big Sammy and Mike guy said it was his best playing since the 5150 tour. I agree and we are both guitarists for 20 years.

Dave was great. I did not hear him doing that higher pitch singing that he has been known to do. I was very impressed by his vocal abilities tonight. Much better than the first show.

    Alex was a rock.

Wolfgang makes me believe that Mike will never be in VH unless Sammy is back in. Kid got a huge ovation when Dave said "lets give it up to Wolfgang Van Halen". I would say 98% of the crowd did not even care after the first few minutes. Sure he needs some stage prescence but like my friend said "who looks at bass players?"

Eddie played a blusey rendition of Happy Birthday to Dave at the begining of his guitar solo. Said Happy Birthday as well. They seem to like each other. Heck Alex gave Dave a hug after the show along with Eddie.

Anyway it was a great show. You would be an idiot to pass it up.

Yay! Thanks for the report. So glad they did a birthday tribute to Dave. Reports of all the boys getting along gives me an enormous happy. Can’t wait to see the video.

Just got in from the VH show last night in Cleveland.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: If you have ever spun a Van Halen record in your life, you MUST see this tour. Last night was Roth's birthday and ackowledgements were aired by Dave himself first: He said that THIS birthday present was one that he's been waiting for for a LONG time. Wolfgang said it over his mike, as did Edward.....but, at the start of Ed's solo spot, he played "happy birthday" on his guitar and said " I just wanted to welcome our brother back, happy birthday Dave" The freakin roof blew off the place. The other cool thing that was said was by Dave...during his intro to Ice Cream Man, he was remaniscing about the old days and said that this version of Van Halen was 3 parts original and one part inevitable.

This is 3 scoops of Van Halen and a scoop of Roth.....

They sounded MUCH better last night than they did in Charlotte. The technical zingers that they had during the first show have been worked out for the most part. Ed played the old frankie ALOT more too. He freakin ripped last night. Scissor kicks galore, runnin, slidin, jumpin around. Eds' solo fuckin smoked last night. Alex's too....Wolfgang even got a little 'spot' himself during Romeo Delight. While Ed and Dave f'd around, he carried the tune alone with a little tapping on the bass.....for about 20-30 seconds. Alex's solo was incredible and Dave, well.....I've never heard the guy sing any better and I've seen him live 30 times. I mean that, he is so powerful right now. The screams are incredible, much more like the old school Dave now than in any of the solo shows I've seen in past years.

It seems to me that they're getting better and better as the tour goes on.....you folks out west are in for it when they get to you.

They're tight, they're on fire and they're coming to kick your ass next!

    Toronto (10/12) .....Chicago(10/16)...get ready....its VAN HALEN TIME.

    Cya at the shows.....I'm there!

    2 down, 3 to go....

Oh, and coming out of the Arena, I was walking towards Flannerys with my girlfriend, Sensibile Shoes, Twonabomber, Grimes and company...a women asked me what the final score of the game was? (Quicken Loans Arena is where the Cav's play) and without thinking, I said:

    Van Halen -1

    Sammy Hagar- 0

the first thing I saw was Bomber walking in front of me, raise both fists over his head like fuckin Rocky Balboa...

    lmao....

( that was for Shoes, as she has already dubbed it: the instant classic)

Here's the video companion to the previously released audio version of this performance. Recorded from the nosebleeds, just right of center. We already described the crowd situation in the audio torrent. People were up and down in our row. That explains why some of this footage is blacked out and why other parts look blurry, choppy or like they were taken with a seizure-cam. We were in the upper level, so the closest you'll get to seeing the band's faces are the shots on their own big screen. The zoom was not used heavily because this drains the cam battery faster and you sacrifice resolution. This is not a prize-winning document by any means, but rather a fun souvenir for fans and a memento of Diamond Dave's birthday in the Rock 'n Roll capitol (where the band was inducted earlier this year).

Almost all songs are represented. The video camera's battery was only good for one hour. Alternate footage was taken with the Powershot A540 to fill the gaps. The day after the show, I spliced those song segments into their proper running order. So yes, you get a few abrupt cuts from the end of one song into the beginning of another. It's the closest you'll get to a complete show unless someone else coughs up tour footage. The only songs not featured at all here are So This Is Love, Little Dreamer, Drum Solo, Ain't Talkin' Bout Love, Jump, and the climax of Eruption (sorry!)

Torrent includes screen shots for your browsing pleasure. If you're not certain you want to suck up 3.18 GB on it, manually D/L the photos first and have a look.

    The Beginning..

It was frustrating hear people complain about the fact, that Michael Anthony wouldn't be in the band when the tour was announced, and Wolf was in. I mean honestly, it seemed that People forget what ROTH does for a band, He's done it with every Band, EEAS, DLR band, Even that stupid bluegrass band sounded decent with what he did with it, You named it he's done it. No one got it though, They all bitched about how MA was getting screwed, and Wolfie was going to suck, Blah, Blah, Blah. But Move forward a few months, You see the YouTubes of the rehearsal and then a few folks finally start to come forward, others still bitching about it. First show comes around, And the doubting thomas's of The Van Halen Universe are dwindling. People are starting to admit that this sounding like fun, Alas some of us had a feeling that this would happen for a while.. so lets begin this.

    The Q

So I arrive at the Q, First things first, I got some time to kill, might as well get a T-shirt, And I mean..They all look amazing...All the Velveetapaalooza 04 ones looked just flat out stupid for rock concert shirts. I wouldn't honestly be fucking caught dead in. Meanwhile, Every fucking shirt looks amazing, Expensive? Probably, $40 is a little pricey but they seem well worth it. Best of all..NO LAMEASS RINGED LOGO! The Classic one is in place. So I chose the Classic Renewed 1979 Tour shirt (with 2007 inserted ), . Very cool looking indeed. I look around the place, Amazing to see how many different types of people are there. Dudes with mullets..lol, Yeah of course. But then there were normal folks, Folks in their 40's-50's..people my age, kids going with their parents, upper, middle, lower..Didn't matter which class..they were all there..I guess it was true that one statement I heard on VH1 regarding the classic era of the band “Van HALEN was for everyone, It's like saying “I like Pro Football”..It's the widest possible net a rock band could have”

    Ky-Mani Marley

So I get to my seat, things are getting set up, it hits 7:30 and bob marley's son comes on. Okay a lot of folks probably give him shit, but he did okay IMO..Not Hard Rock..but something you'd hear at a bar in Florida or something, Chill Music. He did get some applause from the audience, still much like every opening act in Van HALEN history, well.,you know the story.

    Before the set

Well...They had the blimps flying about, people were settling into their seats, it was great seeing all these folks in Van Halen gear..Hell one of the folks that sat right front of me had a Diver Down Painters cap...Holy shit thats rare as hell..I had a feeling the dude was an army member..don't ask me why..but I got the feeling. I also was very shocked VH didn't play Pittsburgh on this tour! There was a TON of Pittsburgh VH fans in my section! Much like Cleveland they are just a traditional strong point for two things: Rock and Roll and Football! Everyone was pretty stoked from what I saw..a full house, except for one section that was obviously but out by a fucking Corporate sponsor.....and it started..

    During the set.

I''l bounce around a bit during this, Mind You..I want to give you the high lights, not just some lame run through of the setlist.

The Arena goes dark, suddenly Ed comes out of nowhere spotlight on him, playing these notes, and then he busts into YOU REALLY GOT ME..Roth and the gang came out like a time capsule had been opened, Roth waving the Red Flag made the crowd GO INSANE. Ed was playing as good as I've heard in years..Wolf was pretty damn good, Alex erased all those horrible years being anti-roth, and Roth..Was Fucking Diamond Dave Again.....The Band seemed legitimately chummy with each other..like they all were..well a Family..Dave didn't have as many rothisms but He did stand up and was dave, He didn't seem whipped by Edward and vice versa, Wolfie seemed like he had fun, Even though I think he messed up a bit on the Ted Templeman-DLR Bit on UNCHAINED, Though IMO, When he interacted with Roth during SO THIS IS LOVE he redeemed himself..Oh yeah, It was awesome to hear Every last one of the songs be a CLASSIC Van HALEN song, and the crowd knew this, everyone around me sang along to every last word to some of the classics....It didn't sound like they were piped in..neither were the vocals...I'LL WAIT...Even though it's my least favorite song in the classic era, actually sounded great live..Wayyyy better than the original. Everything sounded great, Even the much loathed solo's..Alex was on his game during it, and must have been happy to see a full crowd actually respond to him with cheers, rather than the pathetic crowds of 2004, 1998, and 1986-1995, Ed, Well he is EDDIE FUCKING VAN HALEN...We missed you Ed, great to see you back the way you should be ..Again I detected no animosity towards Roth, I detected almost a brotherly love like sincirity when he played Dave happy birthday and called him a “brother”..The show ended almost too soon as it seemed, 1984 blared and then “JUMP” was played, Wolf came out in a BROWNS JERSEY, and the Pittsburgh fans all got teased for it (btw..IN YOUR FACE POJO! lol), Whole crowd again sang along..and they left to a standing ovation.

Bottom line folks...DON'T MISS THIS TOUR...Don't give the excuse that anthony's not there BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH..he wasn't missed..If you're missing this, then you're missing the best tour this year and in years PERIOD..Go see it...Trust me..it's worth the $75 tickets and $40 shirts .

Oops. I wasn't paying attention. Tell me again what is going on.
"I decided to name my new band DLR because when you say David Lee Roth people think of an individual, but when you say DLR you think of a band. Its just like when you say Edward Van Halen, people think of an individual, but when you say Van Halen, you think of…David Lee Roth, baby!"!
