He is the little insecure mud otter that controls EVH and keeps the Van Halen kingdom from becoming whole once again.

But what if AVH had no say? What if his hand wasn't crammed up his brother's chute puppet style and EVH could think for himself? Could Dave and Edward make beautiful music again? Would they be friends or would it be a bloodbath of kotex proportions?

Personally, I wouldn't really care if Alex were there or not if Dave and Eddie got back together.

Ray Luzier would do just fine, or Greg Bissonette.

Obviously, Eddie wouldn't go for it. Might be just what Eddie needs, though. To play with someone other than his brother. Luzier would give Ed a kick in the ass, and does the classic tunes justice.

If Ed can swap singers and call it Van Halen, why not drummers? Not like AVH is any great shakes a la Bonham or Moon. Doesn't suck, but AVH's biggest distinction is being EVH's brother more than anything else.

Dave, Ed and Mike with either Luzier or Bissonette. Wouldn't be VH, but I'd pay to see it.

AVH is for more easily dispensed to me than Mike Anthony.

Granted, Al and Eddie have played together for years, and I doubt there's another drummer who knows Eddie's playing as well, but Al's not the best drummer there ever was, and not even that distinguishable by rock drummer standards.

Would be less interested in a full blown classic Van Halen reunion, authentic because all the classic members were there, than to see what Roth and EVH could produce with ANY drummer.

I know the Eddie grunts will say "Blah blah blah, you're just saying that about Alex because of what he's said about Dave, etc.", but I never really thought Alex was a great drummer, even back in the day. He had an oversized kit, and he filled his role well, but he 'aint all that special on the skins.

I think there is a good chance that things would work without Alex.

Probably more than half of what's stopping VH from reuniting with Roth is just stubborness over personal slights from years ago.

If a full-blown classic VH reunion couldn't happen, say for whatever's sake that one of them couldn't participate, I'd rather see Alex go before Mike Anthony.

Ed and Dave together would be enough. Any drummer, and bassist when you come right down to it, would be fine.
