Any DLR solo stuff being played on the tour?

Any Solo Dave tracks such as "California Girls", "Yankee Rose" "Goin Crazy" being played on this tour or will it be only CVH stuff?

On the 1995 Page/Plant Tour...they had a Cure song, a Robert Plant solo cut and a Coverdale/Page tune in their setlist...

Van Rothin' is America's Led Zeppelin.

Maybe...jus' maybe...there will be some sort of setlist surprize...MAYBE...

It would be cool to throw in a Roth tune, IMO.

Ed played sam's solo SHIT, so, why the fuck not??

Anyway...I think its all up to Wolf.

If he says "Daddy, can we play Yankee Rose? can we? can we? please please please" ...maybe we'll get some

I would love to hear what Ed would do with that tune

"Yankee Rose" has that CVH sound to it.

Roth solo stuff would be a nice little mix with CVH, Since Spammy got to do his solo shit.

There will be no Dave solo material on this tour, because they have six albums worth of material to choose from. Van Hagar played Sammy solo tunes because,
    1. They had less material to choose from.(Van halen have six albums and the two tracks from Best of.
    2. Van Hagar were trying to bury the shadow cast by Dave, so they only played the most commercial classic Van Halen hits like jump, panama, ect, to satisfy the fans.

Van Hagar played Van Hagar tunes, CVH tunes, AND Sam's solo tunes

I doubt they do any Roth solo, but I would like to hear ED bust out YR. Its something I have been curious about.

Last year, Dave didn't even do Yankee Rose at the show I attended...no idea why it got cut, its a great tune.

I have to say. I wish that they would do what Dave did during the Sky tour in 88. That tour was fucking awesome. He'd surprise the audience by doing the unexpected for once. I have a Milan boot where they did a medley of songs including the Beatles classic "I've just seen a face." For one, I do not want them to do what Dave has done for years. That is, the same old shit every night. Yes, I do want to hear all my favorite classics, but inject something new into it. Without new music, IMO, they will have to pull out some surprises. For instance, give us MWM for crying out loud. Dave's answer? "There is a huge catalogue with music that is as familiar to you as the roof of your mouth or "chan chan chan chan"...[we have to play all of those before all else]. I disagree! Ed, do Yankee Rose and watch what happens in the audience. We know you could do it. In return, Dave, do a Van Hagar song just for shits and giggles. Anyhow, that's my opinion.

You know they are going to do the mainstream hits like "Jump", "panama", "Runnin with the Devil", "Hot for Teacher", "Ain't Talkin about Love" etc., but they should do some lost tracks like "DOA", "Light up the Sky", "Take your whisky home", etc. along with some Solo Roth like "California Girls", "Yankee Rose", "Just like Paradise".

    The fans would love it!

I bet if Dave was with VH for the 1986 tour "California Girls", "Just a Giglo" would be part of the set list.

Some covers would be great also, like when Dave use to do "Heartbrake Hotel", "superstitious" etc.

Jezz, play Dave's songs?.............we are finally just about to get Ed and Dave on the same stage. You wouldn't wanna push your luck. Now, would you???

(If) they were able to play Dave's stuff, Ed would have a major ego/jealousy attack after the crowd went nuts, thus killing the tour within 48 hours.

Then again maybe Ed could handle it and we would then know that the circumference of the round = the degree of the vertex at said point...................... What? Oh yeah ..... I don't see it happening.

Fuck Ed! He played Sammy's stuff...

They can't throw in "Knucklebones" or "Tobacco Road?"

Pansies! Maybe we'll hear the subtle reverb of "There's Only One Way to Rock!" underneath "Panama?"

Oh! God forbid they spend more than two fucking hours on stage!

Ed use to play solo Sam, why not play some solo Dave?

Doesn't have to be alot of solo Dave, but maybe 2 tracks sprinkle in of Dave's most popular songs.

The fans would be going nuts, but they will be going nuts from Eddie's guitar playing also, not just Dave's singing.

Brian Wilson knows what he is talking about. Carl Wilson sang background vocals on Dave's version of California Girls.

For the past two decades Ed has played nothing but solo Spam under the moniker of Van Halen....................

True, I'm not saying I wouldn't love to hear solo Dave stuff with em' because I would. I just don't see Edwardo wanting to play Dave's songs that much. Not to mention the fact that Wolfie had better be up for a bit more of a bass challenge with some of Dave's music.
Who knows though, this tour may be full of surprises.

Everybody picture this. The lights go out and a recording of “Damn Good” starts playing and the video screen starts showing pictures of them when they were together. The verse where Dave says “Hey take a look at this picture Can you believe that was you? And who's that standing there in the corner? Not me!!! Ahh, the crazy things we used to do” will bring the roof down. This would be a perfect way to set the mood for the rest of the concert. This effect would’ve worked better with Mike in the band though... Oh well! I can also see the band actually play this song for an encore with the old pictures appearing on the screen as well.

Finish What You Started is weak even by Van Hagar standards (they had standards?) If they were to do a Van Hagar song, which I don't think they will, maybe Summer Nights.

"Finish What You Started" is the worest Van Hagar song of all time.

If they do any Van Hagar, they should do "Poundcake" or "Top of the World".

I would rather them do solo Roth than Van Hagar even though it would be intersting.

Remember, Dave refused Sam`s offer to perform together at the RAR HOF this year. Dave said that, Sam`s style was a whole different appproach to song writing than his. So will Dave eat his words and perform a Van Hagar song? I don`t think so!

Weird little Factoid...The Execs wanted to make the Song sound like A Robert Palmer wannabe type song...There was even a mix created for it for radio stations to test out...I have the mp3 for some weird reason..

They got 6 albums of perfect songs. Why in the world would they pollute that with any Hagar crap?

Even DLR solo, as good as it is, can't stand up to the six-pack.

Very true! Anything Van Hagar needs to be piled up and BURNED!

I would be crazy if I said “Eat Em’ and Smile” and Skyscraper was better than any other CVH albums. But they definitely can stand up next to them, because they were more Van Halen than Van Hagar’s albums ever were. Let me start with cover songs. Tobacco Road is just as good as any cover song that CVH recorded. The acoustic song Damn Good is just as good as Ice Cream man or Women and Children First. The crazy tunes like Two Fools a Minute and I’m Easy are probably better than Big Bad Bill or Happy Trails. I enjoy listening to the mellow songs like Ladies’ Nite in Buffalo and Hina just as much as I do Little Dreamer and Push Comes to Shove. After These next two you’ll think I’m crazy. The synthesizer songs like Stand Up and Just Like Paradise are better than Jump and I’ll Wait. And the technical assault of Shy Boy and Elephant Gun can shoot down Hot for Teacher. Pop-ish songs like Goin’ Crazy and Yankee Rose is Classic Van Halen Songs written by a different guitar player. Those songs belong somewhere on the classic 6. We are judging 6 great albums to 2 great albums so that’s not really fair. CVH gets my overall node by writing anthems we can sing along to like Runnin’ With the Devil, Everybody Wants Some and Dance the Night Away to name few. In my opinion EEAS and Skyscraper are way too underrated. Those 2 albums and the tours that followed were CVH. AND ALL OF THIS PROVES THAT DAVID LEE ROTH IS VAN HALEN PERIOD.

Just CVH stuff and there's plenty of it to choose from. Plus MWM and CGTSNM to throw into the mix. And maybe a preview of something new?

“Eat Em’ and Smile” ranks right up there with said "six-pack". On some days I even think it shines above them.
