    Cool Diver Down

Hello. As the #1 speaker of the truth at this website I often bad mouth the VH CD Diver Down.
So, yesterday I decided to pop it in the CD player and give it a listen.
This was probably the first time I had heard it in many years.
The verdict... I was quite surprised at how much I enjoyed it.
It's definitely not VH II or WACF but it was very cool.
It's still not the best Dave/VH CD but it is very fun.
I even found myself groovin' to DITS.
I think I'll listen to it again today.

    Take care soldiers,
    General Hina

DD is a GREAT friggin CD. One of my favorites...Not sure why so many people have problems with it. It had a few covers, so what??? VH has always experimented with and added their style to covers. A very underrated catalogue by far.

This album was my introduction to the mighty =VH= back in '82. Hearing that volume rise in the intro to Where Have All The Good Times Gone and the intro to The Full Bug are true gems.

And where would we be without Happy Trails?

"Dancin' in the streets" is somehow a little lame, it doesn't rock as much as the earlier covers like "You really got me" and "You're no good". However, 1984 has it's "I'll wait" too so it shouldn't represent the quality of the whole album...

And yes, "The Full Bug", "Little Guitars" and "Secrets" rank among the top VH songs...

    But...but...you're a Hagarita Waborita, aren't you?

DD was and still is, diamonds compared to anything and everything Hagar has ever released, with or without the VH Bros.

I'm not surpised....Hagar fans are often confused when they first hear quality music.

    Look at it like this.

Picture having a nice big shit sandwich and washing it down with a hot glass of piss every day of your life. Then one day you have a a flame grilled steak and an ice cold beer....you'd be like, "WTF is this all about?!?!?!"

About the only person I've heard that had a problem with Diver Down was EVH ("too many cover songs").

Secrets, the Full Bug, Hang 'Em High, and Little Guitars are right up there with the best classic VH produced.

Even the covers (Dancing, WHATGTG, Pretty Woman and Happy Trails) are a solid, Van-Halenized effort.

Let's not forget Cathedral, you Eddie grunts!

Diver Down is a fine album. Doesn't suprise me that Eddie "Head Up My Own Fat Ass" Van Halen doesn't like it. When it comes to matters of his taste, the evidence of the last decade speaks for itself.
