CNN: Mystery 9/11 aircraft was military 'doomsday plane'



Shortly before 10 am on the morning of September 11, 2001, amid rumors of a fourth hijacked plane headed for Washington, DC, a mystery aircraft appeared in restricted airspace over the White House. There has never been an official explanation for this incident, which has provided abundant fuel for 9/11 conspiracy theories.

CNN has now learned from two government sources that the mystery plane was a military aircraft and has determined that the blurry image on video appears to match photos of the Air Force's E-4B, a specially modified Boeing 747 with a communications pod behind the cockpit.

"The E-4B is a state of the art flying command post," CNN explained, "built and equipped for one reason -- to keep the government running no matter what, even in the event of a nuclear war, the reason it was nicknamed the 'doomsday plane' during the Cold War."

There's no way that plane is prepared and airborne on such short notice circa 2001.

The Cold War was over, and we were on rosy terms with Russia and China (the only two nations presumably with the motive and means to nuke us).

I understand, and to a certain extent accept, the explanation of the lack of fighter and SAM defenses in the continental US on September 11, 2001. There was little threat of bomber attacks at that point since the Cold War was over. But if we had such little fear of attack via enemy nation-states wielding nuclear weapons --then why was this plane on such stand by?!

It again leads to the conclusion that Bush, or the cronies in his administration, knew some form of terrorist attack was coming on a scale not yet previously seen...

And of course in the report, the "9/11 Commission" refuses to touch this and there is a "wall" of secrecy surrounding this plane's deployment. Why? What's so secret about the USAF trying to maintain command and control after a cataclysmic event? But why was it so readily on the scene over DC on such short notice before the people at NORAD/NAEDS, the FAA, and supposedly the pResident were so unaware of what was going on?

I saw this piece on CNN, and I was pretty fucking ill. The Spidey-sense was working overtime on that one...
