ok, pubic hair doesn't work well for guitar strings, they're better used as dental floss.
Now, can we stay on topic please? lol..
Alright, I use Dean Markley 740 XL's because they are the only damn string my trem system likes and won't pop like crazy. I do think that they don't last very long which wasn't a problem when i was playing out because i changed them like twice a week.
Now the guitar sits more and they go dead pretty fast, but i like them.
It is pretty funny how some strings work better than others on different guitars, it doesn't make much sense to me.
I picked up a case of cheapo Pro Customs strings that were about $1.50 a set and i'll be damned if they aren't decent. I keep them on hand for when someone breaks a string and asks if i have a spare, lol.
They are made by Martin & Co. so they can't be all that bad.
I hate the 5150 Peavy strings, they suck in my opinion.
On my acoustic i use only Martin Acoustic SP's and they rock out very nicely, but they also go dead in a short time, but that's life...
Dean Markley Blue steels .008's, nines, and tens for certain things.
Overall I can't say I don't like GHS Boomers with a DiMarzio pickup, but growing up used mostly Ernie Balls.
Now I hate Ernie Balls, never use them again.
My FAVORITE STRING is no longer made I think, Diamond Nickel .009-.046 - I think Gibson bought them out in the late 80's and they don't sound the same. They're called Gibson somethings now.. nickel?
Freind of mine tried to get me into Fender Bullets.. but they're made by D'Addario which I don't like.
Anything other than Blue Steels for most things, or GHS on a DiMarzio-loaded guitar works okay I suppose, even Darco's (they give you a second E string in a set for free in case you bust one) but unless its got some nickel in it the string tends to sound too "clanky" to me.
Blue Steel Strings worked great on my old Ibanez axe, but they don't seat properly on my Charvels.
The ball end just doesn't sit right in the trem and tuning is damn near impossible.
My 740 XL's are getting really hard to find these days and that pisses me off a little.
Ace Frehley Signature Strings .009 .011 .016 .026w .036w .046w
They work really well on the Jacksons and Charvels.
I like the Eric Johnson GHS strings on the Explorer and the Dean.
Rubnose...I use Fender Bullets....009s....on my Jap Strat, which has a Kahler with the locking nut taken off, and they work great...the bullet ends keep it in tune, even doin' dive bombs...if you're a newbie, you'd be best off staying with .009s for a while...
Actually I mislead the American public. I also use XL120's
The 125's have a super thin Top E....
I was mistaken, I was given incorrect intelligence !!
