    Shopping In Charlotte?!

Ok, it's closing in. THE VAN HALEN NORDIC INVASION leaves the Swedish ground on Wednesday and arrives in Charlotte later the same day in the evening.

A party of 7, ready to party and experience the reunion/reinvention of the decade. Or century!

My pal didn't settle for Hyman's "this is America, you'll find anything" answer :-) However I must direct a BIG thanks to Hyman for his overall support.

So - Can anybody advise us on where to go in Charlotte for:

    1. Boots (for your feet..)
    2. Music - vinyl record stores..
    3. Asics shoes, guess there are footlockers all over?...

Also, is that bus thing happening?
How many are hooking up before the show?!

Looking forward to seeing you and Van Halen in less than a week.

Appreciate your shopping tips! We're staing at the Ctr City Courtyard Marriott, so it's just next to the Bobcats Arena..

Haven't been to Charlotte in a long time but they used to have some great music stores.

    Oops...

My hairdresser (who lives in Charlotte part time) told me to go to a place called Southpark. She said it's the best place for shopping there.

As for meet ups, Tiki and I intend to meet every Roth Army soldier there.

Best shopping would be either Southpark Mall or Concord Mills Mall. Go here to see

Music? The only one real record store thats still around is Manifest Discs. Go here

Hyman. We're arriving late Wednesday. We plan on picking up our tkts at Will call Thursday morning. Since we have double tkts for Charlotte we want to try and lose them during the day.. we'll see how that goes... Hopefully we'll get some of the $$$ back. Charlotte reads sold out on ticket master, hope there's not another drop comin'..

So, guess there will be some time for shopping on Thursday and Friday. But I am thinking of just kicking back on Thursday. Maybe a little pool, maybe a little running and eventually the bar... Don't want to drink to much before the show, want to remember this experience...

Damn. I thought they shut down every Manifest. It used to be the best music store around, especially in the days of vinyl.

Best music store in Charlotte is Manifest. It's on South Blvd. For shopping go to South Park Mall. It's sort of near Manifest music. You could hit both in the same trip.

Where are you guys staying? Charlotte is a little tricky to navigate. The streets change names every few blocks. Good luck trying to figure out which way to turn when you are the intersection of queens road and queens road.

We're staying at the Courtyard Charlotte City Center, 237 S. Tryon Street.

Looks like it's very close to the arena.. close to shopping too? We have a SUV though so we are mobile...

There isn't much shopping in Downtown Charlotte. You need to drive to shopping. Take south Blvd to Fairlawn. Go left on Fairlawn and you will see south park mall on the left.

To get on south blvd from downtown get onto Brevard Street. Brevard turns into south blvd after it crosses over the freeway. If you get confused look for the pink highrise condo on the edge f downtown. The pink condo (you can't miss it) is on south blvd. Follow south blvd away from downtown and this will take you to fairlawn. Manifest music is on South Blvd also. I don't know if it's before or after the fairlawn intersection. Manifest is hard to spot. It's on the left side of the road and is part of a strip mall. I've lived in Charlotte for three years and I still have a hard time spotting manifest music. It doesn't help having south blvd all torn up as the city instals our new commuter train.
