Thanks for the info homie! A silly question for you - are you allowed to keep your SWAG backstage during the show, or do they make you take it inside the ring?

too bad the swag is lame. for what people are spending, thats peanuts and they should give a little more. they dont have to spend alot of money to fill the bags with cool stuff.

      the swag sounds lame.

I agree on the swag - kinda lame. Swag bag is taken with you into the ring. I have seen VH with Dave six times - the show made up for the swag JMO Setlist is maybe a little soft but I am still stoked. They rocked Greensboro Non-stop.

It was like watching VH on Hi-Def we were so fucking close. Got one of Ed's picks, man you are where you want to be. IF you are thinking high dollar freebies - don't.
One of the security guys at Greensboro told us that some assholes in Charlotte got on the stage during the backstage tour and fucked us up because things were tightened up because of that shit. Did you hear that when you were there? Anybody on here do the VIP thing in Charlotte? I'd like to know the deal on that...

I did 5-star for Charlotte, and nobody got on the stage. VH did, however, start their soundcheck about an hour late - so instead of doing at 4:00, they did it at 5:00 - which is when we got there. Needless to say, as soon as we heard the mighty VH kicking in we all rushed to the stage. I was standing at the edge of the stage, like a foot away from eddie watching them knock through 'Hot for Teacher'! Within minutes they dragged us out of there... there was one dude who managed to not get shoo'd away and he ended up begging for a pick and got one.. maybe that's the guy who fucked it all up for everyone else, I dunno....
On the bright side, once we were out of the main area, I got to pound free beers and listen to VH go through the first 6 or 7 songs of the show in their soundcheck. That for me was well worth the price of admission.... oh, and my seats were 4th row, dead center!
Soundcheck is not part of the package though... so you'd basically be paying insane money for a REALLY good seat if you go 5-star. Looking at the prices now, I'd say that $550 a seat for Charlotte was a bargain.

I actually got to work the barricade at the 1984 show. I was 18 then. Ed during the guitar solo just sat on the edge of the stage right behind me. He was like in some trance he was into his playing and mouth was open and he was moving his tonque in his mouth back and forth like he was keeping time or something.

It was cool to be that close but then you couldn't just watch the show eiher, you had to watch the crowd which got so wild we had to pull some people up and out so they wouldn't get pinned. I had to pull out some stoned/drunk chick too.

As far as numbers on the barricade. Roth must have stopped doing that or it was a good BS story because there were none.

What was cool about Dave is he helped us during the show. A guy like that controls the crowd and Dave knew it. When things were getting dicey he even stopped the song and asked people to take two steps back. He had power we didn't and it was great to have him on our side. I can only imagine how horrifying a security job would be with an Axle Rose type person up there.

                    Thanks all

Thanks so much all of you 5 stars for the info. I appreciate the info and advice. Sad to hear they can't even throw in a tshirt for 750 bucks. I can't wait to see it NOW!!!

Here is a question for you all though. How did they distribute tickets in the 5 star? Any advice on how to get the best seats in the ring?? Was it a luck of the draw thing or can I do something to help myself?

I had the 5 star in '04 and it was completely worth it! Of course, we got to meet the band and it did incluce a shirt then. Not an official tour shirt, a special ILAA shirt with what looked like an ancient VH logo on it. Of course, it was only $400 then. I wasn't about to pay the $750 (in KC) they were asking this time.

I was really lucky with my Greensboro tickets, but not at first. The day they went on sale, I forgot that Greensboro was eastern time zone. I went online at 10:00 a.m. my time (Central) and they'd been on sale for an hour. I was stuck in section 229 rown N. I was pissed and yet happy I got tickets. On September 18th, I decided to log on to Ticketmaster. I chose "Best Available" and it pulled up I think section 109 row E. I looked at the seating chart and that was right on Wolfie's side of the stage. So, I decided to CALL ticket master and ask if they had seats available on Ed's side of the stage. I asked for section 127 specifically (it was sold out) but they said they had seats in section 126, 4th row. I couldn't get the fucking credit card out fast enough...and that is where I shot all my video footage from. The downside was I couldn't sell my other tickets because I was pressed for time outside of the venue...but you know what? Fuck it. I don't care.
I like to pay close attention to the things I'll forget later...

I got one 5 Star for Minneoplis, MN.

What is my chance getting in at least the first 4 rows from stage?
