"I'll Wait" - Why so unpopular?

    Hi all.

I was wondering what it is about the song "I'll Wait" that die-hard VH fans dislike so much? Is it because it is so keyboard heavy (like Jump)? I have always loved the song... so it always surprises me how much people here (and other VH boards) dislike it.

    Just curious.

I just hate the melody of it. sounds too dark and weird. Hard to put into words, I just don't like it.
    This space for rent.

It's a very catchy song but lots of keyboards. That probably turns some folks off to it.
Three time witness to the comeback of the MIGHTY VAN HALEN. And then they faded back into obscurity.

I've always loved that tune, and I was friggen excited when they played it! I'm so glad it's in the setlist. I love it, I don't care what any of the other fans think. I had always wanted DLR to play it live with the DLR Band, and was always disappointed that he wouldn't, but I got to see the real deal twice now (for a brief time I can claim I've been to every Van Halen show with Dave in the last 20 years haha), and I couldn't be happier... unless I had tickets to more shows, that is...

Yup.. As everybody here secretly wanted my opinion, I'll give it to ya.. LMFAO

Nah, seriously, this song is one of my favorite from 1984. And yes, I'm happy they play it now. And huh.. actually, it's one of my favorite CVH tunes.

And to be brutally honest with y'all, the only two songs I dislike are Pretty Woman & Dancin In The Street. Otherwise, I truly fuckin adore ALL CVH songs. All of 'em, motherfuckers !

It's the least favorite song on that album for me.

There is no such thing as a "bad" Van Halen song.

There is so much charisma in his voice... it's hard to dislike it.

Plus the guitar solo is way underated.

Off of 1984 they could have played Girl Gone Bad or House of Pain instead of I'll Wait.

Or they could have busted out an old classic like Loss of Control or some other non-wuss song instead of I'll Wait.

I'll Wait was released as a single wasn't it? Is there any song that was released as a single from the Dave era that is not being played on this tour (or at least not yet)?

I'll Wait was a big hit in 1984.

It charted very high on Billboard (#10 i think). Used to hear it on the radio all the time, even though there wasn't a video for it.

I like the song, always have.
