Starz Coliseum Rock 1978. Not totally obscure but a band that never lived up to their name or got the attention they deserved.

Ok chefcraig, I'll have to dig deeper.
One of my top 10 all time CDs is Brother Cane ~ Seeds from 1995. And Fools Shine On was the ballad/single but High Speed Freezin' closes out a solid rock record with a southern flavor.
from wiki: In 2005, Brother Cane reunited for 2 concerts. One of the shows was released as a two-disc set with never-before-seen backstage, offstage, concert footage (a 40-minute show as the opening act for Van Halen in Fresno from '95) and interview content.

I'm not a real Armored Saint or Fates Warning fan but I dig Joey Vera ~ A Thousand Faces CD from 1994. Slow and plodding moody music, he's a good singer too.

I highly recommend the albums "Brotherhood of Electric (Operational Directives)" and "The Scroll and Its Combinations" by Wellwater Conspiracy. Those two are amazing. Their self titled 4th album is also pretty good. Matt Cameron (Soundgarden + Pearl Jam) and John McBain's (Monster Magnet) are the main contributors to the band. The music doesn't sound anything like the bands they are in / were in and is very 60's.
I'm also currently digging the album "Fables from a Mayfly" by Fair to Midland.
Great fucking band !!! Love all 3 albums. They were the last band i was into until Black Stone Cherry came out. Another great band with 3 underated disc's. Top 40 heavy metal might still be around but these are real band's in a LONG LIVE ROCK ROCK REALLY IS DEAD scene. I like some of the Shinedown stuff also. Damon Johnson from Brother Cane is playing guitar for Alice Cooper these days. Great player.
Aside from stuff I posted earlier in this thread, check out any record by Bigelf - classic rock with a twist.
Firebird - Firebird is a great bluesy rock album
Audrey Horne are also very cool - sort of prog meets Alice In Chains
If you like you're prog Amplifier's 'Octopus' is well worth checking out too.
If you like stuff that's really weird, check out Fantomas (Mike Patton from Faith No More)
There are plenty of other little gems in the album reviews thread......
Anything by Amorphis
Definitely a kick ass band from the mid to late 90's. My band covered I Lie In The Bed I Make at our last show in '99. Still crank the 2nd and 3rd cd's on the pod. Didn't know that about playing w/ Cooper. Gonna have to check that out. I heard that Brother Cane made a Christmas album. Any one have that?
The band Ours. Singer/songwriter Jimmy Gnecco kicks major ass.
I know ya wrote this years ago, but I picked this one up randomly out of the .50 cent bin at the local record store back in May, 2011. I like to pick out cheapo bin albums with interesting covers and preview them in the store (if the store has a preview station). I've had some pretty good luck actually. Anyway, this was one I ended up buying, happily! So I recommend it as well.
Anybody remember this shit. I used to dig it.
The band is Bar 7, the album is The World Is A Freak. Bar 7 was put together by Jeff Keith and Tommy Skeoch while Tesla was broken up. Cellophane, 4 Leaf Clover, Got A New Life, Love Is Such and No Show are all great tunes.
A finnish 70's prog rock band Wigwam...well this band was more like "deep pop", but ain't it a perfect and beautiful piece of a song:
This is my fav tune of the album. Listen to the drummer! Listen to the guitar. Very futuristic.
Some of the older albums are way more progressive...they really did some amazing music. A bit of "The Band" too. The singer was british.

I think any no one knows bands I have heard of are long gone but this is one rarely talked about .
I mean no-one really talks about this and I think they are pretty sharp. I know they were big in the UK.

KIX are a band that didn't quite make it past 2 or 3 hits, one of the better glam/rock bands of the 80's.
Got all their albums, after Hot Wire they just fizzled out.Nobody I know has a damn clue who it is when I play them, lol
Another great "not so known" band was TANK.
Got a motorhead vibe with more melodies...their first album was produced by Fast Eddie Clark.
Wellwater Conspiracy:
As I mentioned before, I love this band. Their 2nd, 3rd and 4th albums are awesome. Their 1st is good, but not as good as those.
Porcupine Tree:
They are not really obscure, but I don't know a lot of people who listen to them / know about them.
The Hollywood Stars - didn't appear on their debut album, but the original of the song Kiss did on Destroyer (Kiss, like Elvis used to, were able to wangle writing credit on a song they covered). I like this version, it's from 1974, and produced (like the album below) by Kim Fowley:
I think this was their debut album, three years of so after that single. I'm sure these guys must've crossed tracks with VH on the Strip back in the 70s:

THINK LIKE THE WAVES
Ray Gomez, Volume, Columbia Records, 1980. Been listening to it for 30 years - on and off - and it always sounds good when I go back to it.
It's a bit jazz-funk-rock-fusion in places, but he's a great guitar player - listen up to the solo if you are not initially convinced. Vinnie Appice, later of Sabbath, plays drums on the first of these (it's two songs together in the clip).
Listen to the damn tone at the solo...
Just in case you never knew what Doug Fieger was doing before "My Sharona"......
Don't have any albums out yet, Mary's a perfectionist... and nothing is ever good enough when she records, lol. But, I do have a few personal videos of "The Mary Thomas Blues Band". Incredible talent
