Eat Us And Smile - The Originals
"I have a very belligerent enthusiasm or an enthusiastic belligerence. I’m an intellectual slut." - David Lee Roth
"We are part of the, not just the culture, but the geography. Van Halen music goes along with like fries with the burger." - David Lee Roth
Adding Des Moines to my list where I met up with the one and only Dirty Dave.
Milwaukee is all I have left unless I can fugure out away to get to Tiger Jam.
I've only been to the Minneapolis show, and frankly that was enough. There were others within driving distance, but I just wasn't interested.
I'm as surprised as anyone how little I felt at the MPLS show. I thought it was really going to be an emotional thing for me having waited 25 years, but it wasn't. I think the main reason was that I lost interest in the rest of the band once Dave left. I disconnected and didn't much care about them, so when I saw them again, it was just like seeing any old band up there. It was a great sense of closure for me to finally see them, as I never had (and had unused tickets from 25 years ago). And I'm grateful that we apparently got one of Ed's better performances from this tour.
Of course, seeing Dave anytime is a thrill for me. If they do come back to MPLS as rumored, I would probably go again. I was thrilled to see Dave so happy and couldn't take my eyes off him. I barely remember the others even after only 4 months.
For me, it's always been about Dave and always will be about Dave. I'm happy he is doing so well and getting rave reviews. I'm happy he got what he wanted even if it's a phony sham (you know it is!).
jim shetterlini , sorry i had to high tail it home after the show, i had a blast in des moines though the crowd seemed a tad numb on vodka or something vs the kc show...way more spilled beer on the floor in kc too it looked like a lake down there on the floor after the show, not as much as the st patricks day parade but a good showing of spilled beer nonetheless..
but, i must state i was well pleased with the overall drunkeness at both shows and especially the enthusiasm and wild abandon i saw with some of the 18-19 year old chicks as i am sure was wolfie as dave mentioned to wolf at des moines "notice the chicks here wolfie" to which wolf replied "thats why i'm the bass player"!!!
Sat in an aluminium cylinder at 30,000 feet for
20+ hours to arrive in time for the second vegas show....
We lost a much cherished family member the day after

Needless to say, Van Halen was not an option anymore....

Looking forward to the Oz gigs, and new album...
