Panhead back together this week. Looking to borrow a shovelhead motor from a friend to get the other up for the summer....
Chainsaw Muthuafucka
The Doctor is back !!!
Valentino Rossi- Assen 2013
Pan is done and the second Shovel is being broke down as I type this....
Igo can you tell me what happened to the shovel you said, blew the lower end out...is that threw a rod and poked a hole in the lower case..?
Threw second gear as in busted a gear in two ?
Or twisted the drive gear sprocket connecting rod ?
What damage did you do and were you racing someone what happend ...
One time in shop class in highschool I forgot to wet the gasket on a canister type oil fiter.73 Nova and when I started it up 5 qts of fresh oil ran all over the shop floor...best part!!!... I jumped under the car to see what was wrong instead of turning the engine off...I got a "D".
It appears that the alternator stator racked back and forth looseing the primary belt pulley and creating slack that I took for a bad lower end. The stator rubbed the case and gave the appearance of the crank pin moving in the case. Fo-par on my part, but I put the five speed in it tonight and will set up the belt in the next few days...
Nice.... wasn't as bad as thought no fo-par just plain lucky you caught it in time.
I finally got a good ride in after my repairs and burned the under of my bicepts felt great!.....my bud I rode with has a bagger style bike and loves th 75-80mph touring.
I was behind him on my sporty not so much riding as hanging on I need a softer seat or maybe soften my rear shocks..?
I am only comfortable against the wind at 70mph,... when the wind is at my back maybe 75-80.
Any advice for a long hauls on a sportster..?
Sportsters?, Hell back in the day we called them "dirt bikes". Pissed the shit outta the loyal Sportster people, but again back in the day most wouldn't be caught dead riding them. In retrospect, a small thing, but that's the way it was. The Sporsters now are miles away from the old ironheads, but they are no more popular with hard riders now then they were then. I could have bought one back when I was just getting into in, but I waited two more years till I could get a big twin. (that I still own).
The Sportster 48 is badass, but the hardcore Harley fucks still hate them. Of course, they hate my VROD too. One of them was looking over my bike the other night, and he said "This thing has a 9 grand red line?" He liked it, but he wasn't about to be complimentary.
I'm hearing all the big bikes will be water cooled as soon as next year. That should piss those guys off.
You ever ridden a Sportster? They were fucking BAD, and not that much better now.
Of course I have.
The vibration isn't so bad anymore. That 48 has the fat tires front and back. It doesn't ride bad at all.
I liike my 883 it is so light and fast in and out of anywhere it changes lanes and corners like a jap street bike and I like riding like that in the city a large touring bike sin't cut for the style I ride .
I call it bar hoping...but when out on a several day trip a sporster beats the shit out of you, kills your back.
I have ridden some large bikes and they really only want to go forward on the highway..I will need one soon . I will more than likely keep the sporster for my city riding.
Fokk I want a moped for going to get cigs at the corner store starting up the car to drive for a box of screws or cigs is expensive.
I have decided I need several bikes and cars and a new boat and a helicopter....well, I don't "NEED" a helicopter ....lol.
Here is my last year pic ( page 4) before and after I changed the mirrors and installed the highway pegs chrome matching for the mid control pegs moved the factory rubber pegs to the passenger area chrom peg matching grips some other bolt on stuff,. I had lowered the lisence plate soon after buying it. I have a few other modifications coming gonna stay kinda stock.
Here's to ya![/QUOTE]

The 883 is a chic bike.
.....nah...........not gonna go there.
Oh dear.
i gotta ride tomorrow, it's been over a month i think
Another one of those classic genius posts, sure to generate responses. You log on the next day to see what your witty gem has produced to find no one gets it and 2 knotheads want to stick their dicks in it... Well played, sir!!
I never really made fun of another mans ride (with the exception of Sportsers back in the day and some asshole that showed up every blessing with a Kawasaki and took great offense to a tee-shirt I was wearing that said "Two bombs weren't enough" with a picture of Japan. I do what I do, and then there's the rest of the world if you know what I mean.
If I rode long distances still, there's no way I could do it on anything I presently own. Yes, I'm the bell of the ball when I show up with the older bikes, but realistically 400 miles round trip is the most I could do.
Everything evolves (not a bad thing), and respect for the past is all well fine and good, but nothing wrong with progress. Hell, I remember saying I'd NEVER have an electric-start bike. Well, guess what....
so fucking hot this summer

I thought Detroit was Soul City - Motown? When did it become the home of Rock and Roll?

I rode one of thse Huskavarna 450, 2012 (above) and a Hunkavarna 125 (below)...after a 60 mile bike ride with a good friend...he is collecting older dirt bikes and creating a party track in his back yard for old guys...it was fun to finish the days ride with some dirt bike riding I was slow and carefull the dynamic is so different and I had forgotten how it is so much more intense on a dirt bike...good times.
My knee hurt today like some ACL issue I am glad I only spent about an hour offroad...."ing"..this will take some getting used to but I have got some interest in off road again.

Well I guess if Kiss says it, it must be true.
PB will be pissed at me... but I must say it was about 78 degrees and the bike ride was thru cool kansas roads on a winding path to and around a heavily forsted lake with complete canopy cover from awesome green trees tru 1/2 of the ride...lots of green and clouds and shade.
When I rode off in the morning to get to my buds place I had to wear a wind braker over my t-shirt.
Fook'n beautiful
No I will always be one of Emily's owners. She only had one puppy, and I think he's coming to live with me - there's a whole bunch of people who have rights to him and it's been a real custody battle.
I love hearing that people watched Westminster that year! Thanks.
I can say alot of things about that good luck and best to you, are a few...I also think it is cool that I can say I have a friend who's (sp) dog won the most celebrated breeding competition and not be fibbing when I say it ..althought it is a internet friendship still I can say,... hey...when I see a portrait of Emily years from now on some wall somewhere..can more than just appreciate that fine animal I can put some story behind it.
Yes, but it's a dry he..a........nope not gonna write it..not gonna no...you know what I'm say'n...it's a heat heat....with 25% hot heatiddity...ouch.
I also now see your desire to dive with the scuba...underwater..all the way...that's how you beat the heat..lol.
Put on your dive weight belt; if you have one and get a 7ft long pipe to augment your snorkle and hit your pool for a hr underwater.
