Getting ready to ride past Lambeau!
PETE'S BROTHER (09-27-2013)
Always been intimidated with bikes. Would love to get a small one like a Honda Rebel 250 just for Sundays around the neighborhood or to/from work. To scared to go on the freeways. (I know, actually safer). The big bikes weigh so damn much wtf do you do if it tips over? How the fuck do you right it alone?
Anyways, enjoy!! And be safe!
I always give bikes a wide berth and try to let them know I see them just because I know how many idiots swerve right in front of them.

I had a bad experience when I was a teenager that kept me from riding motorcycles for almost twenty years. I was learning to ride on a Honda CB750 and some dude pulled along side on a smaller Honda and tried to get me to race. I throtted it once just to show him I could beat him if I wanted to and then backed off. I guess that didn't convince him because he pulled along side again and threw me a rev. I just smiled and kept riding. He ended up behind me because of someone was driving slower in his lane. I pulled into the left turn lane and he followed. The light was yellow for left turns so I slowed down to stop. The other rider decided to pass me up and turn left anyway. The light turned red about the same time he crossed the crosswalk and a car coming the other way was in a hurry and hit the gas as soon as he saw green. The other rider was killed instantly. I left before the cops came because I didn't have a license. I took the bike home and didn't ride on the street again until I was in my late thirties. I can't ride now and I probably won't be able to ever ride again since I hurt my neck in a car wreck a couple months ago but I'm glad I did when I could.
As far as picking up a big scooter if it goes down or you drop it, it's not as hard as you think to get it back up and if another rider comes by nine times out of ten they'll stop and help you if they can.

Hey C-dog, gnarly story. I;ve seen 2 dead guys in the freeway that were on bikes. Me & exwife with stepkid were driving him to his dads for the weekend. A group of 7 or so bikes passed us fast. A few minutes later we hit a traffic jam on the highway. As we rolled past the scene, 1 obviously dead biker, and his 6 friends directing traffic around his body. He must have wiped & then got run over as well. Sad. Scary. I wonder where they were headed & who was waiting for that guy to get home that night.
My best friend was killed in January 2007 heading home from dinner out with his wife. She was behind him when he broadsided a mini van backing out of a driveway on a residential street. She said he was only doing about 35 but he went over the handlebars as the front end collapsed from the impact and broke his neck. The last time I road with him before he died I told him to get rid of his crotch rocket and buy a Harley and enjoy the ride instead of seeing how fast you can get from one place to another. I figured he'd end up dead or crippled if he didn't quit riding like a maniac on that crotch rocket but I figured he'd have been going a lot faster when it happened.
My brother was killed in a head-on collision with a Lincoln Continental 35 years ago. I cringe when/if I come across an accident that involves a bike.

You are better off just getting a bike with 500 CC for the road. Anything less you will hate. My starter bike was a Harley Sportster and then I got a Softail. I kept the Sportster to ride around town on. In the begining I would ride early on the weekends and the back roads after work. You will get more experience and confidence and then you will take longer trips and then your 500 won't be enough for that.
I still like to get on my Sportster and go for little rides around town. It's always nice to have a smaller bike for that.

Naw, no belt. You find yourself avoiding all ruts on the road. Rigids handle better than any swingarm bike (and swingarms are better than softails) But one deep pothole will change your mind. 15 pounds of air in the rear tire, and some kind of decent seat it isn't bad.
I don't like bikers. I find them to be dangerous, mentally incompetent people with no driver's license. As Eric Cartman once described them: "Hey...hey, you people know you are assholes, right?"

There is no safe with riding motorcycles.....
Yeah I know man... Life is a 100% fatal sexually transmitted disease. But you can make an effort to anticipate the other motorists fuckup

Not only have I ridden Sportsters in the dirt I've put a few dirt miles on a Road Glide and an Electra Glide. I've buried the rear tires a few times but I never laid a hawg down in the dirt. The only time a Harley I was riding hit the ground was when the clutch cable snapped on my brothers shovel head when I was warming it up and decided to dump me on the garage floor and kamikaze into the fence across the street.

Geezus.... this is FLAB Shadow level trolling. Not very original at all.
I've been pretty lucky on my bike. I hit a patch of marbled safety glass that was on the street from an accident. You can't see that shit at night it just blends in with the pavement. The rear wheel slipped but fortunately I wasn't going too fast. I've swerved and front braked myself out of trouble a few times.
Winter has arrived. I will be trading my bike for a snowmobile. I wanted to get some riding in so I was going for rides before the snow hit. I have no wind screen and man was I freezing my ass off.
