    Eddie back in rehab?

Poor Wolfie if this one's true...

VAN HALEN is rumored to have cancelled a string of comeback gigs so guitarist Eddie Van Halen could return to rehab to be treated for alcoholism, according to the World Entertainment News Network.

The band rescheduled two concerts in Virginia and Georgia at the end of last month and another this week, prompting internet reports claiming all tour dates had been pulled indefinitely.

Representatives for the rockers insist the tour is still on, despite announcing Van Halen "is undergoing a battery of comprehensive medical tests to determine a defined diagnosis and recommended medical procedures." Now sources tell the National Enquirer the 53-year-old guitarist checked himself into a clinic near San Antonio, Texas, so he could detox for a week after a furious backstage bust-up in Florida with his 17-year-old son and bandmate Wolfgang.

Read more from the World Entertainment News Network.

At least it seems like they're trying to deal with it....
Wolfie being around at least gives 'em a little more to work with in
getting him to try and dry up enough to get the tour finished without
    a total cancellation ... ??? ( I'm hoping anyway .. )

I guess Wolfie attempted to replace Ed with Steve Vai, thus, the furious bust-up.

Hey I would rather see EVH enter rehab and delay the rest of the tour for a little while than see the rest of the tour go down the shitter. You know damn well that if the tour imploded at this point, no matter what the reason than all the people would be talking about was the shitty ending not the great shows. EVH is obviously an alcoholic and being so he is always running the risk of relapsing. I don't know about the rest of you but I would rather see this scenario than to see the tour collapse because Ed and Dave were at each others throat. From what I've heard Dave is doing the right thing as well as getting along with everyone just fine. Even Betinelli complimented Dave on the way he treats Wolfie. If EVH can get straightened out and finish this tour than it seems like it is all the more likely that there might be some studio work in the future. Lets hope so.

In the City of Fort Lauderdale there will be a great thunder... Two brothers torn apart by Chaos...while the idiot endures... the great leader will succumb... amps shall fall.... guitars smashed... a great famine across the land.... the tour shall be cancelled... when the cresent moon aligns with the fifth star of jupiter.

BassPlayer makes good with Ed......of course, we're talking Wolfie.

Thank god for Wolfie! If anyone will get Ed in-check, it will be Wolfie and no one else. Ed won't respond to anyone else.

Wolfie doesn't take crappy excuses from Ed.....Who Is the Dad here?

Hats off to Wolfie for getting Dad back to rehab!!!

Ed's sobriety and health is more important than the Tour right now.

Ed "Need to fuck everything up" Van Halen needs much more than rehab, he needs a fucking good kick in the head for his unprofessional
behaviour towards his band-mates and his fans.

He also needs a lot of psychiatric help, and would do himself good checking some past perfomances before 85 to see how shit he is now, sorry but in the conference, he said he was playing out of his skin etc...

I do hope he gets it together because I have TICKETS FOR THE APRIL SHOW IN CHICAGO YOU FREAKING DRUNK!

Anyway, if Ed's problems are so severe, he, along with his brother, should have known better & shouldn't have started the tour

I wrote this in another thread but it's relevant here...

" Fuck this bullshit & fuck Eddie Van Halen

I've got tickets for the April show in Chicago

This miserable excuse for a human being doesn't give a shit about the fans, the people who gave him his riches & fame

This spoiled brat millionaire, this alcoholic prima donna, this total head case freak has some extremely serious mental problems & should be committed

What's wrong Ed, is the massive pressure of first class travel, the finest hotels & making a million each night getting to you?

Or is the greatest guitar player freaking out because he has to actually play the guitar each night & it interfers with his boozing?

You know what Ed, do whatever the fuck you want to do, tour or don't. But what you don't do is announce a tour, have millions of fans, fans that work real jobs & break their ass for a paycheck, invest big money to pay to see your ass, & then back out because your fragile, fucked up, freaked out brain all of a sudden can't handle the "pressure"

That's nothing but a cop out

If you're not the mighty Eddie Van Halen anymore fine, just don't lead us on with BS. If you're a pathetic drunk, don't announce a tour. If your mental state is that of a young child, tell us before we all put time & money into making you richer

    You've got three options pal.
Hole up in your mansion, become a recluse, drink, smoke crack & meth & screw your porno skanks
Commit yourself to a mental institution & find out what the fuck is wrong with you
Or simply grow the fuck up, become a man & do your job

The guys that work their fingers to the bone laying bricks all day, the girls who work 8 hours in an office, your fans that come home dead tired from working real jobs don't want to hear your excuses

They don't want to hear about a spoiled, child like multi-millionaire rock star making millions each night & how the pressure of playing guitar is too much to handle

So make your choice Ed. You fucked with the fans one too many times"

WOW.....I can't argue this statement at all. Eloquently said. After reading Val's book and knowing what's currently going on with the Tour, I think Ed needs serious therapy along w/a few more rehab stints. No matter how much us fans give the kudos to Ed on stage, he doesn't like himself. Even at the back of Val's book where she acknowledges those in her life, her words to Ed were simply put:

Ed - You're a good man, believe it. When you do, you will be free.

That's pretty heavy, didn't hear about that. But if he HIMSELF doesn't believe it, no amount of fan adulation/accolades will suffice...

    C'mon Ed...repeat after me:

There's a lot of focus on Ed's drinking, but according to Val's book, cocaine has always been a problem too. I bet that's as hard, if not harder, to kick than the booze.

I think Ed's problem is he still uses alcohol as a crutch. He said he started at a very young age,and it is just part of his life, like breathing air.He needs to be buzzed to have the confidence to play, not just on stage but in the studio as well.Without alcohol,he thinks to much, over analayzes, gets nervous and tenses up.He is easliy intimadated.I hope he can find the confidence to take on the music world again, because he truly is one of the greats.Wolfgang seems determined to keep his father sober, which may be his only hope right now.

My Back is FUKKED and I use Alky as a crutch myself.+ Pharmy stuff.

I'm a Gaddamn Drunken, Drug addled Fool in agony!

However ,I cannot work the next day if I drink cause i'm too wrecked.

So if I have work that needs doing... I don't drink.

I am tired of feeling like sh!t and trying to work all strung out.

If I make the mistake of getting drunk and I have work I make a excuse and don't show up.

I would rather loose my job or piss someone off than show up drunk at work.

I do sh!tty work strung out and I refuse to do sh!tty work, so...what to do?

Live with the pain and then I start drinking when I don't have to work for three days.

It ain't rite and there is no cure for pain just mask it for a while and roll on.

Separate your needs and wants and life is all rite!

I think Ed deals with pain. I saw his right hand on the jumbo in KC and his knuckles looked like marbles.

    .

Hey, Maybe you guys can help a fellow out ?

The other night I had this dream that a 16ft tall Liver was chasing me down the street with a butcher knife?

What does that mean? I can't figure it out?lol

Drive on Ed keep the faith.

I find it interesting that the tabloids & TMZ.com reported what is happening with Ed, but we never received a VH Newsletter about the situation or to even tell us the tour is still a go!

Seems the new publicist/spokesperson for EVH is Val (what happened to Janie?):

According to the Edmonton Sun, Eddie Van Halen's ex-wife, Valerie Bertinelli, says the guitarist is OK, despite rumors to the contrary.

A publicist's statement about Van Halen, which revealed that he is "undergoing a battery of comprehensive medical tests to determine a defined diagnosis and recommended medical procedures," left fans wondering if the problem was booze or a recurrence of cancer.

Over the phone from Ohio where she is touring in support of her new book, "Losing It", Bertinelli says she completely understands the public interest in Van Halen's health.

"I just talked to him a couple of days ago. I understand the curiosity — I was curious until I talked to him. He sounds terrific," said the actress.

"He's just being very pro-active. It's not as awful as people think it is. I'm so proud of him right now. He sounded terrific, and hopefully they'll [VAN HALEN] start back up [touring] again on the 11th."

After 23 years you think the drama is finally over, WRONG!

If the guy can't be a better example to his son than he is. if he wants Wolfie to learn the ways of the drunken druggie on tour. I mean, if he cares so fucking little about what he's doing right in front of him?

    What's the fucking point?

My desire to even see the show is gone at this point. I knew that in time, something would go wrong. I was just hopeful that with Wolfgang around him he'd keep it together.

If his cancer is back, no sympathy here, he shouldn't have been smoking after his bout with cancer.
If he's so fragile and has no balls to just STOP boozing, especially in front of his son...He deserves what comes his way.

    Fuck Edward Van Halen!!!
I remember him saying he doesn't owe anybody anything. Well guess fucking what, I have $250.00 invested in a show he didn't show up for, so he does owe me something, God-Dammit!

His health and well being is most important, sure, but the shit he's dealing with is his own damn fault and i'm to the point where i've had enough.

Fuck it, i want a refund and he can just go fuck himself.

    Roth Out!

Yeah. Like the source of the news is reputable. Like TMZ was off on the tour cancelations. watched the Ft. Lauderdale show and Ed threw his guitar down after Jump and shoved a stack of speakers and a amp which toppled over.

I never saw Ed pulling wires out of his peddle board as mentioned in the article. I think it's all speculation.
No! You can't have the keys to the wine cellar!

Wolfie can go to a wieght loss camp while dad dries out again. Then finish the tour and come out with some news songs with Dave. Hell, Ed should come out with a book on his own that includes a DVD of some never seen before VH footage.

Because what's the point? Al battled his demons sevral years ago and from what I see and hear, he's sober. Al did go through some therapy and his counselor turned him onto ham radio. I hear Al is really into it and it was a hobby that let him focus on something else besides drinking. Ed needs something. Maybe he's bipolar?

for being bad news its good news, at least dave isnt the problem.

eddies everything i want in a guitar hero, plays a badass guitar, drunk as hell all the time and fighing with everyone.

fuck it, at least he hasnt grown up yet, i kinda like the image hes presenting, LOL.

hes a crazy SOB, who would have thought this many years into it that he would be the one out of control, dave probably feels like he should do something fucked up, hes probably feeling a bit ripped off with ed taking over the reigns as most fucked up member of vanhalen.

it usta be dave face down in a pile of puke or cocaine, now its ed.

I've run a stripclub for 14 years and have had my share of substance abuse... and then some. One of my best buddy's died, and it took me on a crazy bender. When your drinking partners are naked and there's new ones coming in every six days, the party seems to never end and just get crazier.
I saw myself drowning the loss of my bro and figured that if I didn't stop, I'd drink myself to death. So I quit cold turkey, and went two years without a drop of booze or drugs. It was a battle and a half, but I somehow managed to stay clean. Then one night, a Playboy model bought me a glass of wine, I said, 'Why not,' and all hell broke loose! In the blink of my eye seventeen months had disappeared. I finally snapped out of it and sent myself to AA for help. Alcohol can be the devil for some people, and I am one of them.
It might be simple to tell yourself, "I'm only gunna have one drink." But is it that easy for some of us to have only one drink? I myself can't do it so I don't drink anymore... and that ain't easy for me.
Now thinking of Ed Van Halen and if I was in his shoes, how would I be? I'd certainly do my best in front of my kid, but if I succumbed to my Demon Alcohol, I'd certainly hope that my bandmates would intervene and get me back on my feet again. For my health, and for the fans.
It's nice to see that that is what I believe they're doing. I know from my experiences that it's hard to keep it together, and unfortunately some people always get f**ked over along the way.
Sh*t like this happening to Van Halen shouldn't be a surprize to anybody. So if you call yourself a fan pray for the dood that he gets better. All the money in the world can't fix probelms inside one person's head, so calling him a millionare crybaby is bulljive.

Tomorrow will be my 365th day sober.

Come on people. Eddie's an f-ing rockstar and has been for 35 years. You all know a lot of true rock stars that aren't alcohol or drug addicts? He's made it into his fifties, still having a great time, and can still play (most of the time). I'm sure it's a lot easier for the every day guy to recover fully than it is for a touring multi-millionaire rock star. I'm not condoning it, just saying don't be so sad and shocked.

Slimdon, thanks for the story.. this question is a litte out of place, but, I take it you don't run a stripjoint anymore? Seems like a hard place to stay sober...?
