Apparently it's a club gig in the U.K. I keep forgetting that CRM is a British fanzine.

A club gig. WOW!!! That certainly is a MAJOR announcement!

Intimate UK Club Show in March 2010 in advance of the "Sonic Boom Over Europe: From The Beginning To The Boom" European Tour May / June 2010
Rock legends KISS are set to bring their new "Sonic Boom Over Europe: From the Beginning To the Boom" tour to Europe in Summer 2010.

In advance of the full European tour, KISS will play a special one-off club show at London's O2 Academy Islington on 2nd March 2010. With just 500 tickets available to the public, this show is a rare chance for fans to see one of the world's biggest bands in an intimate venue.

Says KISS frontman Paul Stanley: "We thought this was the perfect opportunity to do something a bit crazy. With all the buzz about our upcoming tour, we thought, let's come to London, strip it down, turn it up and blow the roof off the O2 Academy. What better way to say 'thank you' to our most devoted fans than to pummel them?"

I read recently where Paul took it back about KI$$ going on with no original members. He basically said it didn't make sense. Ha, the financials must have come back in and said they would sell zero tickets.

                    Ugh.

Bad enough the band continued to slog along after Frehley and Criss left, but at least Stanley and Simmons still had to go out and physically sing for their supper.

KISS without any of the originals...what the fuck IS that? I mean, when Simmons mentioned that several years back, I thought he was just talking out of his ass. There are enough old-time bands still creaking along on the live circuit with half or less of either their original or definitive lineups. If KISS manages to make the leap (am sure other bands have done it, but these are usually lesser acts like, say, Starship featuring Mickey Thomas, or Stephen Pearcy's Ratt - acts not as big as KISS that have only one member in them from any lineup that mattered) to a lineup where NOBODY in the group was an original...I mean, well, fuck it.

                    Who gives a shit?

At that point, Frehley and Criss ought to be able to go out billed as KISS, regardless of Stanley or Simmons participating.

Fucked up part of it was that back in 1996 Stanley and Simmons seemed to see the light in terms of knowing what people wanted to see with KISS, and in essence admitting that Frehley and Criss were part of that desire. Ever since they figured they could still make the money as long as four people were up there in makeup, Stanley and Simmons got greedy. However, this is the first real sign that they're getting lazy on top of it.

E1 And KISS Team Up To Create New TV Series - Mar. 9, 2010
Leading independent studio E1 Entertainment has finalized a production and development deal with legendary rock band KISS. E1 will tap the worldwide enthusiasm for the KISS brand, collaborating with founding members Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley to create a comedic half-hour kids television series that galvanizes the band's iconic personas for its young fans.

"We're honored to be involved in carrying on the KISS legacy," comments Frank Saperstein, Senior VP of Kids and Animation for E1. "It's wonderful to collaborate with the creative forces behind one of the greatest rock bands of all time and unquestionably one of the most recognized worldwide."

E1 has snagged the KISS brand as it eclipses its roots, building energy in new family and youth media outlets. KISS's role as the face of Dr. Pepper, their significant presence during Super Bowl XLIV, and their appearance on the 2009 "American Idol" finale, which reached over thirty million viewers, has made the make-up and leather-clad giants a household name for kids and families today. The KISS tradition continues to grow generation after generation transcending age, race and creed.

"KISS continues to be the juggernaut of licensing and merchandising, from KISS M&M's to KISS Dr Pepper," remarks KISS co-founder Gene Simmons, "KISS is a band, but also the only music BRAND. Continuing in our 35-year history of going where no band has gone before, we are proud to partner with E1. Like all things KISS, we intend to make this a very special show for our fans."

"We couldn't be more excited. Coupling E1's successes and ingenuity with the global force of KISS guarantees an express pass into the homes of our youngest KISS Army members with a show of superior quality," adds KISS co-founder Paul Stanley.

The as-yet-untitled series will be produced and distributed worldwide by E1. Executive Producers are John Morayniss and Frank Saperstein for E1 Entertainment; Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley of KISS. E1 and KISS will handle all licensing and merchandise for the series.

Gene Simmons has thrown down the gauntlet to The Rolling Stones and U2 to compete with Kiss as the (admittedly self-proclaimed) hottest band in the land.

Talking to XFM, Simmons said: “I would love to play on the same stage as U2, the Stones and anybody out there who considers themselves a world champion. You come on up on that stage with us, baby. Show me what you got, and then we’ll show you what the big boys do.”

This is perhaps the greatest piece of rock band duelling since Twisted Sister threatened Manowar and Hanoi Rocks with a punch-up in London’s Covent Garden nearly 30 years ago! You can read all about that right here.
