KISS News Bits

One of the songs on the new album (yes... I'll call it an album and it is being recorded in analog) will be entitled 'Rotten to the Core'.

Gene is in talks with Mark Burnett (TV's Survivor) about a KISS reality show focused on the recording of the new album.

KISS M&M's are in the works.

Bye for now!

I really don't care about the reality show, but Kiss is still an amazing live band.
I saw them in concert last year in Verona, Italy.. and I must say it was one of the best concerts I have ever been to.
They rocked the place.

Boy....I don't know....I have been a diehard fan since the mid 70's. I've endured the lineup changes, the makeup coming off, the reunion going sour...but I just don't know if I can keep buying albums when I know that it's going to be Ace and Paul passing it off as KISS again. I refused to go to any of the shows with the fake Ace and Peter...You want to give them new personae, or take the makeup off again, fine, but I'm not accepting these two in the Ace and Peter makeup.

The fake "farewell" tour rubbed me the wrong way too....

I hope they don`t balls it up like they did with "Psycho Circus".

Say what you want about Gene and Paul but they used to be able to crank out good tunes every year.

Surely in the 10+ years since PC they have stockpiled at least twelve good songs?

Question is: who is going to BUY it?

'Sweet And Dirty Love' off Gene's last solo album would have been a great KISS song... but when I listened to it the other day, I realized that it is probably a great song because all Gene did was tweak 'Tie Your Mother Down' a bit.

Looks like KISS is touring South America in April.

Almost reminds me of when they played huge stadiums in the early 80s in SA.

As for the new cd it will probably be similar to PCircus. Sounds like Gene is so busy that Paul is producing.

I wonder how many ghost or guest players will be on this new cd.

I LOL at what's left of Kiss.

I mean, I can tolerate them up til 1987 or thereabouts, and the 1996 reunion was a nice way to send themselves off, but beyond that, as far as I'm concerned they simply haven't existed.

With Ace clean...and songs in his hand...it would of been nice see him do a couple on it.

I'm down for a new album. I can take it knowing that it isn't Ace, like when it was Bruce or Vinnie. It is what it is. What I don't want to see is the Ace and Peter image on the album cover. That will put me off like the fakes on tour. I would rather see the make up come off and that is acceptable. I've boycotted the tours since the reunion fell apart.

Funny that in some ways "Sweet and Dirty Love" will be in this new KISS album, cause this song is two demos merged in one....those demos are "Jelly Roll" and......"Rotten to the Core", the "new" song!!!

I wouldn't expect much given that Paul is serving as the producer... I don't think he has a head for what would make a 'vintage' KISS album anymore.

Track Listing Of Ace Frehley's Anomaly Revealed
The official Copyright webpage U.S. Copyright Office has published details regarding the upcoming Ace Frehley album "Anamoly". The track listing will be the following:

1. Outer Space
2. Foxy & Free
3. Sister
4. Too Many Faces
5. It's A Great Life
6. Skels
7. A Little Below The Angels
8. Fox On The Run (SWEET cover)
9. Change The World
10. Pain In the Neck
11. Genghis Khan
12. Fractured Quantum

More details can be found here: WebVoyage Record View 1

There's a video on youtube of Ace laying down a solo for 'Pain In The Neck'... the song sounds pretty good... the thing is that writing a good song was never much of a problem for Ace... it was his lyrics... some of them are downright embarrassing.

I like the 'Fox On The Run' idea... might just suit Ace's voice pretty well.

Fox on the Run is a cool tune, I think that will be a killer tune for him to do. I'm interested too in Fractured Quantum. I read he was going back to his origianal '78 solo album to see what made it click, obviously this is in the vein of Fractured Mirror. I've heard Sister for years as a demo, not a big fan of it. Can't wait for it to come out!

Yup, fits right in with some of the shit he did on the Kiss/Ace "solo" album.

we'll be there.

KISS is also playing a couple nights at Casino Rama, where a bunch of us met up for the DLR show a few years back.

Bayfest's rock weekend lineup is Counting Crows on Thursday, KISS on Friday, and Stone Temple Pilots on Saturday. i'm pretty sure i will not be attending Thursday night, i hate that fat dreadlocked piece of shit Durwitz.

KISS guitarist/vocalist Paul Stanley has told Brazil's O Dia Online that the band's new LP will be released in September. He also described it as "a classic KISS album" and a throwback to the "Destroyer" and "Love Gun" songwriting style bit with modern production.

KISS bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons recently confirmed the group's first album since 1998's "Psycho Circus" is being produced by Stanley. "I don't have enough time to tie my shoelaces and there's nobody else I trust more than Paul," Simmons told RollingStone.com.

Regarding the sound of the new material, Simmons said, "There's nothing to prove to anybody. We're not interested in musical trends or anything else. We're too long in the tooth for that. So it's going to be sort of a classic '70s rock and roll vibe. Meat and potatoes. You know, sometimes you just want to go out and have a meat and potatoes thing [and] forget the French dressing."

According to Amazon.com, Universal will release a new KISS live album called "Authorized Bootleg - Nashville Municipal Auditorium 1998" on May 26. No further details are currently available.

I wonder how good that`ll be.

They played okay in 1996 for the first reunion tour but I thought they went downhill fast, particularly Peter.

I`ve already got the millenium concert "Alive IV" (which pales in comparison to "Alive!"/"Alive II"), so I`m not very excited.

Alive IV had a lot of potential, but did fall flat. Expecially the debocle of the two bonus tracks a Best Buy exclusive. they failed to put on the cd and had to give away a separate disk. not very convenient.

There's only been a couple of albums since (hell, since even as far back as Love Gun if I really think about it) Dynasty that have really done much of anything for me. Those would be Creatures of the Night and Revenge.

I mean, I suppose it is good for diehard fans of the band that KISS dujour are gonna put out something new, but my expectations for it being on any kind of level like Hotter Than Hell, Destroyer or Rock And Roll Over are virtually nil.

I just hope they do not attempt to sound contemporary (whatever the crap that means at this point) like Stanley or Simmons attempted on their last solo albums. The damned things were pretty much un-listenable as a result. Write some simple tunes and record 'em like a garage band. Otherwise, the band's reach exceeds it's grasp, resulting in the absurdly tedious Psycho Circus. And the only good thing about that album was the 3-D "moving" cover.

It's that sort of thing that makes you think the band were just following a trend in their classic days and their heart wasn't in it. My last listenable Kiss album was The Elder so I've got no great expectations.

Recently KISS' Gene Simmons talked with Comércio do Jahu (a Brazilian news site) about the forthcoming KISS South American Tour and other matters, including the band's new album: "Yes, we will launch an album with 12 or 15 unpublished songs. We already recorded vocals and guitars for four of them. We will finish up the album in July and launch it in September. I can say the sound will be like a sort of a new "Rock-n'-roll over", mid-seventies sound, fast and heavy. There will be no rap, no country music. It is difficult to define music, but if you keep in mind that definition, you will understand very well what we are talking about. It's the classic KISS sound."

Kissonline has posted a message from Gene Simmons. He mentions that Kiss now have recorded four tracks for the upcoming album. And it's interesting news that Eric will sing one song on the album!
