    Guinness in black glass? Not that I've seen (and I used to drink it often)

    The Extra Stout is in brown bottles.

    The "pub draft" with the little gas rocket inside is a clear bottle wrapped in black cellophane. Dunno whether that blocks the light as good as the naturally dark glass does, but (unlike some beers in clear or green bottles) I haven't found a bad 6 pack of Guinness yet.

    wouldn't you want to get white glass to reflect all light? Black glass would just absorb it all.

    Anyway I bought some dublin dr. pepper's today, we'll see if they are truly better.

    Necroposting this thread because the Pepsi & Mountain Dew should be rolling into a store near you this week. For the record, the bottle designs at the top of the thread were scrapped, in favor of these versions.......

    ...so while the formula may be retro, the logo, not so much. At least for the Pepsi. The Mountain Dew still looks fairly old school.

    Gonna look for some tommorrow. Anybody found it yet?

    Not yet, and I've been looking...It's hard enough to find Jones Soda around here. I hope this isn't some regional thing, because if it is, I'm fucked.

    Even the $1 bottle of Lipton with lemon has HFCS in it! How in the green hell do you wind up with HFCS in tea that isn't suppose to be sweetened?!

    Well I finally found a bottle of the Mountain Dew at Safeway. It was the last one. Didn't see the Pepsi at all. No fridge packs of cans in the store, despite them being advertised in their weekly ad.

    It was good ol' Mountain Dew just like I remember as a kid, but I wish they would put it in glass bottles like the Mexican Coke.

    And if more of this doesn't start showing up soon, I'm beginning to think the Corn lobby is buying it up just to keep it off the shelves. They certainly can afford to do so, with all the federal subsidies they get to poison all of us.

    What he said. I'd prefer to have REAL Classic Coke throwback, or better yet, the original Royal Crown formula, which was the best of all of 'em...

    I do like Pepsi though after years of not liking it, and the sugar definitely makes a difference...

    Pepsi also put something out called "Pepsi Natural". It's also sugar sweetened but it's nothing like regular Pepsi. Tastes more like liquid brown sugar or something. Maybe they should get the Stones to do their ads?

    I hope that Pepsi has demonstrable increases in sales the next two months, which will cause them to make this product line permanent, and as a result, Coke will follow suit to preserve their market share. Paying twice as much for MexiCoke is not a solution in this economy.

    Then comes the next battle. Getting rid of the goddamn plastic bottles and put this stuff back in glass where it belongs. Plastic doesn't taste the same, and it's a petroleum by product that doesn't recycle or biodegrade easily. Who needs it?

    Yeah, I saw that the other day. In fact I was going to buy one and try it until I saw the bottle of Mountain Dew. But if Red Bull is pulling away from HFCS, I'll support their efforts as well.

    Besides, anything that gives Red Bull an advantage over Rockstar is good. Because Rockstar is owned by hatemonger Michael "Savage" Weiner and his son Russel Goldenshower Weiner, and I'll never drink that shit again.

    Jones Soda also makes an energy drink called "Can Of Whoop Ass" which is cane sugar based as all Jones products are, and that's some good shit too.

    Red Bull Cola is the best tasting soda I've ever had!

    But I do love the JONES products as well.

    I also think Pepsi should bring back CRYSTAL PEPSI without HFCS!

    Does it still use Brominated Vegetable oil?

    Unfortunately it does

    I didn't notice that on the label until after I drank it. Can't say I feel too good about that. Or really understand exactly WHY it's in there. :confused:

    BVOs act as an agent to keep the solution suspended so it doesn't seperate. It's used in most citric drinks.

    I've got to see if we can get some of that Red Bull Cola down here in Hell. The distribution for the MexiCoke sucks, and I'm not even bothering with this new/old Pepsi because the damn plastic bottles melt too easily around here.

    Good call on the Red Bull Cola, WARF! Picked up a 4 pack of it tonight.....

    Reminds me of something.... not quite sure what.... maybe the old RC cola before they ruined it with HFCS.

    I like this stuff though..... all natural flavorings (who would have guessed mustard seed and pine extract?) and a bit less sugar than Coke or Pepsi.

    Downside.... It's priced like an energy drink rather than a cola, and only comes in aluminum cans, like all Red Bull products. But that's OK, because I don't drink the shit like water anymore anyway, but I will be drinking this stuff again

    Here's another new entry in the cane sugar soda sweepstakes.....

    Thomas Kemper's Ginger Peach.....

    Thomas Kemper has been making "premium sodas" for years. They used to make beer too, but I think they sold that line off to Pyramid Ales. Hell, maybe it's still the same company? They use the same brown bottles in either case.

    Anyway.... Kemper started out using HFCS in their products, but they switched to cane sugar a few months back, probably because Jones was kicking their ass in the market shares. I like their Root Beer and Ginger Ale, but I've been less than impressed with their fruit flavors in the past (cherry, orange, and grape) as they were way too sweet, and seemed to taste more like carbonated KoolAid than the actual supposed flavor. So I was a little skeptical of something called "Ginger Peach", but it was on sale, so what the fuck?? I'll drink just about anything once.

    Thankfully, it's more Ginger Ale than peach, and the spice offsets the sweetness. Very well done, Thomas Kemper. If you drink Ginger Ale, or if you're an alcoholic with 12 stepper friends who drink Ginger Ale, might want to pick some of this stuff up.

    I found the Mt Dew throwback. Now I remember why I didn't drink it much as a kid.

    I'll be sticking with the Snapple lemon tea.

    Haven't gotten the Pepsi yet.

    Here's some good news for those of you who prefer non-carbonated beverages......

    Both Snapple and SOBE have switched to sugar in their teas and fruit-based drinks.

    SoBe World - Teas and Juices

    GOT SOME!!! Good stuff!

    I decided to conduct a little experiment with the Dew and Pepsi at a family gathering yesterday. I brought the throwback Pepsi, Dew and regular Coke in my cooler, while everyone else had the HFCS shit in theirs.

    End of the night, I take a look to see what's left where...The younger bunch finished off ALL the throwback Dew, and left 4 or 5 in the other cooler.

    All but one throwback Pepsi was gone (I had a lot to do with that), and there was still lots of regular Coke and Pepsi left in every one's coolers.

    Of course I passed some out when I arrived, but by the end of the day, I'd say it was a hit with everyone who never realized that the ingredients had changed.

    You would have to drink 12,000 fucking liters to equal one line of coke, but that won't matter to the "Reefer Madness/ War On Drugs" right wing mental cases

    Now I know there are some folks out there in Roth-land that, for whatever reason, can't do sugar, whether the real kind or the Monsanto-made poison.

    And I know you folks are saying "Well goddamn it FORD.... what about us diet drink lovers? Are we forever doomed to a choice between Donald Rumsfeld's Aspartame (Nutra Sweet) and the "if you use too much you will shit your pants" Splenda??

    Well the answer is no. Stevia is relatively new on the mass market, though its been in health food stores for years. You can buy it in all the same formats that the other fake sweeteners come in to make your own tea and what not. Good news is that Stevia is starting to be used as a commercial ingredient now.

    So without further ado, here's "Zevia" - the all natural diet drink......

    ZEVIA™ IS ALL NATURAL

    ZEVIA™ stevia soda is Nature's Answer To Diet Soda™. We have taken great care and spared no expense to make sure that all six ZEVIA™ stevia soda varieties contain only pure, natural ingredients.

    ZEVIA™ Natural Diet Sodas contain the natural ingredients discussed below.
    cola

    Ingredients Include:

    * - Stevia
    * - Erythritol
    * - Natural Caramel
    * - Natural Tartaric Acid
    * - Citric Acid
    * - Kola Nut Extract
    * - Natural Caffeine
    * - Annatto
    * - Ginger Root

    Stevia:

    Stevia is a natural herb native to South and Central America. For centuries, native Americans of Paraguay and Brazil called it "sweet leaf" and used it to sweeten native foods. Stevia is used as a food additive in China, Japan, all of South America and in the United States. The extract from the stevia leaf has no calories, no effect on blood sugar levels, and is hundreds of times sweeter than sugar. Stevia sweetens all six ZEVIA™ Natural Diet Soda flavors.

    Erythritol:

    Erythritol is a natural sugar alcohol found in fruits and vegetables, has no calories, and has no effect on blood sugar levels. Erythritol does not promote tooth decay. Erythritol is used in all six ZEVIA™ Natural Diet Soda flavors.

    Natural Caramel:

    ZEVIA™ Natural Cola and ZEVIA™ Natural Ginger Ale stevia sodas are colored with natural caramel.

    Natural Tartaric Acid:

    Tartaric acid occurs naturally in many plants, particularly grapes, bananas, and tamarinds, and is also found in wine. Most colas use cheap, harmful phosphoric acid for flavor. Phosphoric acid is used in fertilizers and detergents. It erodes tooth enamel and has been linked to depletion of calcium, a contributing factor in osteoporosis. Safe, natural tartaric acid enhances the zesty, tangy flavor of ZEVIA™ Natural Cola stevia soda.

    Citric Acid:

    Citric acid is naturally concentrated in oranges, grapefruit, pineapple, lemons and limes. This natural citric acid flavors all six ZEVIA™ Natural Diet Soda flavors.

    Kola Nut Extract:

    The kola nut is from a tree native to Central and Western Africa. The kola nut contains naturally occurring caffeine, as well as theobromine, a stimulating ingredient also found in chocolate and green tea. Natural kola nut extract provides the classic cola flavor in ZEVIA™ Natural Cola stevia soda.
    Natural Caffeine:

    Most diet sodas use artificially produced caffeine. The natural caffeine in ZEVIA™ Natural Cola stevia soda comes from coffee, tea, and the kola nut. All five other delicious ZEVIA™ Natural Diet Soda flavors are caffeine free.

    Annatto:

    ZEVIA™ Natural Orange stevia soda is colored with annatto, from the achiote tree. When we were developing ZEVIA™ Natural Orange, we were told that orange color had to be artificial. But, because ZEVIA™ was to be the first truly all natural zero calorie soda, we refused to accept anything artificial for the ZEVIA™ brand. After searching, we found annatto, which is all natural and a beautiful orange.

    Ginger Root:

    ZEVIA™ Natural Root Beer and ZEVIA™ Natural Ginger Ale stevia sodas contain extract of ginger root. This ancient and tasty ingredient has been used by people around the world to alleviate everything from morning sickness to arthritis pain.
    I can't give a further review because I haven't tried this stuff yet, but it sounds like a winner. And I'm sure it's only a matter of time before other companies who like to use the "natural" tag (Jones & Hansen's, I'm looking in your direction) drop the Splenda laxative in favor of the "Sweet Leaf"

    (and they could get Ozzy to do their ads??)

    Did you know that there are the equivalent of 12 sugar cubes in each can of coke?

    Fanta is a Nazi drink.

    When the US joined the war the German Cocoa Cola company was soon unable to get coke syrup so developed Fanta instead. Drinking Fanta is like suckling Hitler's tit!
