Im going with STEVE MASON. Incredible numbers, he, along with Hitchcock are what brought Columbus to its first playoff birth.

    33 Wins, 10 Shutouts, 2.29 GAA

Ryan's 31 goals in 64 games is incredible. But he plays for the Ducks who have a bunch of stars, who were not in a similar situation as Columbus.

Looks like the Habs are done. Carey Price is getting the Roy treatment from the fans. What a disastrous centennial season for the Habs. Makes my life as a Leaf fan that much better

    Another NHL team in T.O.?

The National Hockey League has met with an unidentified business group to discuss the possibility of adding another NHL team to the Greater Toronto Area, according to a newspaper report on Thursday.

Sources told the Globe and Mail that the group met with NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly in downtown Toronto last week with a proposal that included building an arena just north of the city, at the intersection of Highways 427 and 7 in Vaughan, ON.

The group -- which has also discussed its proposal with Paul Kelly, the executive director of the NHL Players' Association -- presented its own market research stating that a second team located in northern Toronto would not impact the revenues of either the Toronto Maple Leafs or Buffalo Sabres. According to the source, Daly told the group that the NHL is "not currently considering expansion nor do we have any intention or desire to relocate an existing franchise."

The group, however, is taking a long-term view, looking to add a team likely in the three-to-five year range, giving them enough time to build an arena as well as settle any territorial-rights fees for the Leafs and Sabres.

The total cost to bring a new franchise to Toronto could be upwards of $800-million.

One NHL owner told the paper that NHL commissioner Gary Bettman has been "toying with the idea" of a second franchise in Toronto but would want to open it up to all parties in order to attract the highest bidder.

Should relocation be considered, the obvious choice for a move is the Phoenix Coyotes. The NHL had to step in to help the cash-strapped franchise stay afloat for the 2008-09 season. The Coyotes had an estimated loss of $35-million (U.S.) this year.

Damn that Calgary/Chicago game was a wild one. Pretty fun when they tied it up at 4-4. I was sending out a few texts to some Flames fans I know to talk shit. To bad Nystrom & Iggy showed up in the 3rd...lol!

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

The Bs game was what we expected. Habs come out strong early, Bs finish them off with some timely scoring.

I am not sure if Kessel was offsides, I just watched it once, looked like a "bang, bang" play as he was coming out of the box.

Krejci was excellent as well, where did they find that guy?

How did you guys like Lucic last night. Another example of how PIMs can mean something to the overall game. 1 pt & 7 pims for Milan. Plus a fight win over Komisarek. Notice how Mike K got fustrated and later(3rd period) tried to get some cheap revenge only to get tossed.

    +++++++++++++++++

Caps threw everything but the kitchen sink at King Henrik, but he was in the zone. That is how you step up and play when it is playoff time.

Ovechkin is just electric this series. I swear he gets 10+ shots on net every game. Showboating aside, he is just fun to watch.

Also got to give some props to rookie goalie Varlamov. He has played really well in a tough situation. I would bet he is starting in Washington next year. I think we can pencil the Caps in the playoffs for the next couple years, bad news for everyone else in the East.

Also what did you guys think about the whole "Bronx Cheer" for Price when he made the easy save in the 3rd. He looked pissed and did the Patrick Roy 2 arms up in the air. Notice all the highlight shows played the Roy/Detroit 1995 clip about 100 times last night.

Pretty tough of the MTL crowd. Price is still pretty young, so that was just salting the wounds so to speak. He went from "Jesus Price" to playoff goat in just a few months. Something like 0-7 down the stretch & 0-4 in the playoffs.

Too many men on the ice......?? WTF??

I wish they could have extended the series even 1 more game just for experience.

Still, it was a good run for CBUS this year. They took a lot of steps toward the future. Next step is to sign Nash.

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Also PROPS to the Flyers. They still have some fight in them. Hey Game 6...you never know.

Sharks/Ducks are still tied at 0-0 right now. This one is going to be intense.

I HATE all of the Mickey-Mouse calls in the playoffs....

and a penalty for anything short of stabbing a guy in the last 5 minutes???

    BULLSHIT

but...it's on to the 2nd round

I pains me to say it...but..........SAME old Sharks in the playoffs.

Another shut out by the Ducks. The PP went cold again. The Sharks couldn't stop the Getzlaf, Perry, Ryan line at all in the 2nd & 3rd period.

Joe Thornton was a -3 in one of the biggest games of the season. Rob Blake was also a -3.

Somebody better step up in Game 5 or it is lights out.

If not I think Doug Wilson (Sharks GM) blows up the core in the off season. BUT I mean fuck, who blows up a team with 100+ points? Do they stay the course with the new coach or do you make wholesale changes...ie trading Thornton, Nabokov, Cheechoo & Marleau?

HELL at least the last few years they got to the 2nd round.............

I dont think the core will be blown up, I honestly think WILSON will be fired.

The last couple seasons they thought it was Ron Wilsons fault, I guess we see where the problem actually lies.

Don't get your hopes up this early, the Pens are hoping they can avoid the Bruins

However, I would love to see the Pens make it to the final, and come up just short, again...

Don't get your hopes up this early, the Pens are hoping they can avoid the Bruins

However, I would love to see the Pens make it to the final, and come up just short, again...
I find it hilarious that a frickin' Leafs fan can even attempt to talk shit at this point in time....

But you're right, I'm hoping not to see the Bruins until the Conf. Finals, if at all, of course...

Come on VA, dont let some punk kid Leaf fan get to you

I hope the Bruins-Pens play in the C Finals, that would definitely go to 7, and the winner of that would win the Cup.

I am glad the Flyers were out this early, those consecutive years of knocking us out; im still waiting for revenge. But I guess other teams taking it to them will have to do, until next year when the Leafs make it and we make a run.

    Western Conference Scenarios:
If Ducks beat Sharks tonight (as of now its 3-1 Ducks 2nd period) then the matchups would be:
    CHICAGO VS VANCOUVER
    DETROIT VS ANAHEIM

If San Jose comes back and wins the series the next round will be:
    SAN JOSE VS CHICAGO
    DETROIT VS VANCOUVER

    Damn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not much to say other then the Sharks weren't ready for "PLAYOFF" hockey. The Ducks were about the worst possible 1st round matchup, but really it didn't matter. If the seeding was different, they would have gotten by CBUS or STL then lost to somebody else in the 2nd round.

Ownership has to look deep this off-season to see if they are going to stay with this CORE group or not. They also need to look at the GM Doug Wilson as well. He has put together some great teams, but for some reason or another it is just not enough come playoff time.

I guess I will have to support the "Other" California team now since they took out the Sharks.

Good luck to everyone that still has teams in it.

Wow, TSN is showing the VS coverage of the Devils-Canes, and I want to know how my fellow hockey fans south of the border stand these terrible commentators, its brutal.

I guess I'm too used to Bob Cole and Harry Neale.
