What are you Dokken about?
Daggum ,thawt's funny rought thar !
I like me some Dokken now & then. I saw them some years back at a small bar in San Diego. (Reb Beach era) During the opening act, my friend & I spotted and consequently bought Mick Brown a beer and got to talk to him for a few minutes. Very cool guy. Good show too.
These guys don't really like Don. He showed up much later to the venue then everyone else & in his own private limo. Probably spent half of the nights receipts on his ride & hotel room alone.
“Great losses often bring only a numb shock. To truly plunge a victim into misery, you must overwhelm him with many small sufferings.”
Did you like George Lynch Unca E ???
BABY PANA 2 IS Coming !! All across the land, let the love and beer flow !
Love ya Mary Frances!
Man, i thought Under Lock and Key was the fire. I saw them on that tour open for Priest in June of 1986.
Fucking great album. I was supposed to see them open for Twisted Sister around that same time. Didn't care about TS, but wanted to see Dokken. I remember going to buy tickets about a week before the show & we got 10th row. I was like WTF? The girl told me that's all they had sold so far. Needless to say, two days before the show it was canceled due to not enough ticket sales.
Honestly, can't remember. But even then if you liked Twisted Sister, you did so secretly. Stay Hungry was big, and I like You Can't Kill Rock & Roll. But it was somewhere between 85-86. The more I think of it, 1985 is probably closer. Still have never seen Twisted Sister live.
Well, for what it's worth, I will say Lightning Strikes Again is the best Dokken album since Erase the Slate, easily...and probably better than that one was, too; at the very least, it's proof that George and Jeff aren't necessary to make a Dokken album work. And frankly, what with George's head and Jeff's love of all things Foreigner, it's probably for the best that they're no longer there...their heads are simply out of the game of actually making new/listenable music.
I actually do have a lot of unreleased Dokken songs on a CD somewhere, but I have no idea how to upload anything. I suppose I could probably burn a CD or something, snail mail it...?
Twistin' by the pool.
I agree with you on all points Bueno. If you can locate that cd let me know. I'll pm.
I thought posting about Dokkken was a bannable offense...
I will say this, Dokken at least had (has) musical aptitude, which is far, far more than I can say for their contemporaries back in the day, at least as far as hair metal was concerned. While Trixter, Warrant, Bon Jovi, Motley Crue, Slaughter, Cinderella and all those shitheads were making crap, Don, George and Jeff were writing stuff that still actually holds up today and doesn't sound ridiculously dated when it's played live. And they also managed to record one of the best live albums of the 80's.
All the credit and respect in the world for that.
Beast from the East is a really good live album.
I really liked Back For The Attack I always enjoyed Don Dokken's voice, and George Lynch's doom and gloom style
The only good thing about Dokken was George Lynch, I'd be interested hearing anything pre-Dokken.
If believe you do that Dokken, superior to Crue and Cinderella, then journey to the far end of the numbnut side you already have.
And Lynch, flash soloing by numbers he is and nothing more.
No choice but to wear brown corduoroy trousers everywhere, NickD has. Hmmphh.
If Paris is burning and Mr. Scary best examples of Lynch's work they are, EVH and Rhodes very silly for looking up to him they must have been. Unless they were shorter. Hmmmpph.
Here's some "new" Dokken

Now that was funny.
Gotta love Don Dokken trying to act like a bad ass. That is funny all on its own.
