Well...seeing that there seem to have a lot of gear head around this camp, i was wondering if it would'nt be a good idea for a Gear for sale section?...
Just a tough..

Got a Frankenstrat for sale..PM if you are interested. BUT..it's not cheap. Be warned..
Not a bad idea,BUT.....
EVH might legally tear ya a new one for selling replica's as good as the ones he's whoring through Fender.
Trolls take heed...LOG OUT & FUCK OFF!!!
The gear threads are offered as a people-helping-people thread.
It's an advice discussion, not a flea market and I'd like it to stay that way.
There are lots of used gear boards such as The Gear Page, or the first one I made my first buck on the internet thru, gbase.com.. if it's still around check it out I dunno.
The obvious degradation of a For Sale thread or forum, is unhappy transactions which we have no way to ensure against, causing friction.
I'd rather see us selling banner space to Jeff Hausman again, rather than the predictable "can you build an EVH copy for me too?"
With all respect GAR, most, if not all music fan base have a gear and for sale section, i would rather deal with people i come to trust in a small community then on sites like Harmony central or Gbase to be honnest. i've rarely seen any issues with a sale section, unless the members act like 12 years old, then that's to be expected.
I could see the use of this.
Anyone have anything?
At the risk of agreeing with GAyR could be more trouble than it's worth.
Yeah, because Gar will try to sell something he doesn't have...
Oh well.
Maybe this could be used where we post interesting CVH items for sale on eBay?
Bumping this due to a "For Sale" thread in Gear Street - it should probably be implicitly stated somewhere the site assumes no responsibility for bad transactions from (potentially shifty) private sellers...if it's even to be allowed(?)
IF SARGE was down with it (no indication he is, just a thought), one option would be to create a "Classifieds" sub-section in Gear Street forum; or - way less pain in the ass site-wise - a Classifieds thread for all future "sale" threads to be merged with.
I dunno, I still think it could be a potential clusterfuck...and that it's up to the Boss-man.
Def. a do so "at your own risk" type of situation.
Hey, posting shit to sell and or trade might not be bad. Could be interesting except for the one issue of certain troll(s) who only talk about gear and refuse to post a single photo of anything they claim to own.
I guaran-fuckin-tee that the thread would be hijacked into sheer nonsense...

This idea comes around every couple of years but it doesn't really work.
Here you have maybe 50 people interested in the Gear Forum spread across the world.
In 2008 Ebay had 85.7 million active users...
No shit!

Another one of those classic genius posts, sure to generate responses. You log on the next day to see what your witty gem has produced to find no one gets it and 2 knotheads want to stick their dicks in it... Well played, sir!!
