Red face That New Depeche Mode

Anybody had a chance to listen to it yet? Yay or nay? Haven't had the chance to pick it up myself.

Or is it just not "kewl" to like Depeche Mode around here?

    Pretty much, Kristy.
There's some things that are better left out of the Public Domain

    I keed.

    We're equal opportunity snobs/smartasses/critics.

Much of the reaction would depend on the source of the thread, in all candor.

As you're not a button-pushing troll with a giant chip on your shoulder and an axe to grind, you'll be treated much differently than certain others.

    That being said.

DM? Hated it. [and didnt even need to hear it!!]

But your posts in the FL still make you hot in my book....

I like Depeche Mode. I just heard one of the new songs on 102.1 The Edge (Toronto, ONT) and sounds pretty awesome...

I don't think this is even the first DM thread we've had here...

That looks like way too much effort for the effect. Buckling and unbuckling that thing must take forever. I do remember women wearing things similar to that back in the day. Anything that is form fitting and shows off the bumps and curves, if you will, can't be a bad thing.

I'm stepping away from the boyfriend comment

Maybe in their early days but unlike most of those limey 80 synth-pop bands Depeche Mode survived by maturing with the times. If I ever saw Dave Gahan in a "Choose Life" t-shirt sporting all metrosexual, I'd personally shoot him.

Never put DM in the same category as the emo-pop of the day, they were always more innovative.
Not really sure why they still remain one of the bands from that time that I still listen to. Personal taste is always subjective I guess.

I'm digging "Wrong" right now. Here's their YouTube Site Link

You'll have to describe what "emo pop" entails. Now Weezer to me is emo power pop and it hard to take a band who prides themselves on wearing what can only be described as Christian sweaters seriously.

'Wrong' is okay although a bit unnerving. And the video for it is slightly disturbing. Best tunes from Universe that are 'In Chains' (oooh, about bondage!), 'Perfect', 'Hole To Feed', 'Peace' and 'In Sympathy'

Didnt Depeche Mode have a hit in the 80's with
"I Just cant get it up" ??

From memory, poppy synth type BS that Andy Taylor would
    have been all over ??

Havent heard anything in Oz about them since...
I thought they were a one hit wonder type deal.

They were VERY big in the UK so I remember....and the singer Dave Cunt ... don't know his surname... went off the rails on various drug infused long haired tattoo fests.

Speaking of Oz and the 80's ever heard of The Church? 'Reptile' is by far one of my all-time fav guitar riffs, EVER!

Marty Wilson-Piper looks like a young Jimmy Page while Steve Kilbey looks sexy as fuck (IMO).

Phew! Lucky for me I didn't mention anything about the new Bob Dylan.

From memory, poppy synth type BS that Andy Taylor would
    have been all over ??

Havent heard anything in Oz about them since...
I thought they were a one hit wonder type deal.

Here in The States they were a pretty big band. It's one of those things, I guess. I hear their stuff on the radio and it takes me back to the days I was DJ'ing. Some of the stuff from the 80's deserves a second listen.

    I larve Depeche Mode.

Not all the oldest albums, but the darker, better ones..."Violator", "Music For The Masses", also the newer ones...so Try Walking In My Shoes.

btw, they have a song entitled "Tora! Tora! Tora!" too!

Electronic music can be funny. Some of their songs are what I consider shite, some what I consider the shite.

I was making a wordplay joke on that 80's song

Yeah, I know the Church well...
My faves were "Unguarded Moment" and "Almost with You"
