Update: Activision's Senior Vice President of Global Brand Management (whew!) told us, "Oh this is definitely Van Halen, not Van Hagar," which is a plus since David Lee Roth is back with the band and they just finished a successful tour. There's a very slim chance that the rockers might show up at E3, so keep your eyes and ears peeled.
I heard of a possible August 29 release date.

Great news. Wolfie's graduating and Eddie's getting married, so let them both have the summer off, and then after Labor Day, hit the damn studio. Release the album next March and then kick off a world tour. If they wanted to push the album right out of the starting gate, they could start the tour in the Southern hemisphere, as they have done before (South America 1983 or for that matter, beginning the VDIII tour in Australia - which deserves to see the REAL Van Halen at least once)Blabbermouth.net:

As well as a melody of Van Halen tracks and screams, the game will also feature guest act music from the likes of Queen, Weezer, Blink-182, The Offspring and Queens of the Stone Age, says Activision.

I'm surprised to hear you have to unlock the Frankenstrat. How can they base a game on CVH and not have the iconic guitar available unless you start of with the b/w version. Hope we don't see the Wolfgang. (guitar or son)

Im pretty sure they`ll redo Eruption for this game. Don`t get me wrong, it`ll probably be insane on expert, but nothing I cant handle
This game will hopefully change the mindset of too many people I know, who only know Jump and Panama. Hopefully on this game we get to pound out a little `Somebody Get Me A Doctor` and `On Fire`. Songs that alot of `fans` out there aren`t too familiar with.

Along with the guitar I can't wait to sing the songs too, for some reason when you put a song in game form it become a little more fun to sing along than if I was just driving around or singing in the shower.
