Okay, it was E! News. Here's the clip, if you dare. It's saddening to watch it. You can skip to the 0:45 second mark if you want to save yourself some pain.

Dude, we are so far removed from your world, I'm proud of it.
But at the same time I love your country and married an American
girl. We have the means to move to the US, but once you have lived on

But its ok, you have Cabo Wabo !!! Party on Garth....

The biggest joke for us is the English sent their "convicts"

That being said, you weren't afraid to throw it out there anyway. So, again i have to give you your props. You seem pretty level headed despite all the shit that has been thrown at you so i must say you are not easy to bash. Don't go sending me any friend requests but you're alright in my book.

Good point....I know that doesn't make much sense but you asked me for my top five favorites. I think EEAS is the better record in alot of ways but I've got a soft spot for Skyscraper for alot of different reasons so it trumps EEAS for some reason on my playlist often times.

I got into Sam's solo career around the same time I discovered CVH. 1982 or 1983 somewhere in there.......nothing touches CVH when it comes to the 1985 split but I continued to follow both parties and remained a fan always anxiously awaiting the reunion that would end all reunions....but that's never going to happen now.....

No but I'm blind now from gouging my eyes out with a fork after having seen a picture of a grown man in white levi's, a cowboy hat, a black muscle t-shirt with a big, fat gut and a shitty acoustic guitar posing like he was David "Ice Cream Man" Lee Roth himself.......

As far as the sales stuff I agree with you up to a point - Celine Dion has sold a lot of albums. Its worth setting out sales figures in detail though because Hagar lies about it all the fucking time as do his fans.

Both for the same reason that deep down they know that the CVH music is what is what is lasting and has the real artistic merit and influence whether they like it or not.

So if you take away the sales argument from Van Hagar, the false argument that it may not be innovative but it was more popular, then you are pretty much left with nothing. Van Hagar becomes a musical cul de sac - a non event, and waste of time for everyone involved.

But we knew that already, it's just handy having the ammo easily available to prove it to the mid western housewives/VH Links posters as required.

I do agree that it is useful in a sense to have the vast gap in sales figures favoring CVH when making the case...but Van Hagar wasn't exactly a commercial flop, either, which ties into your Celine Dion comparison.

It WOULD be amusing to have an interviewer actually present Hagar with the confirmed album stats and hear his reaction, seeing as Hagar consistently overinflated not only the sales of Van Hagar but also his own solo album stats and is never called on it. I suspect it is mostly down to the laziness of rock journalists that the false assertion Van Hagar "reached even greater commercial heights" than CVH has been repeatedly printed over the years...only reason I can see for that is perhaps Van Hagar had each studio album reach #1 on the charts.

I mean, Van Halen's most successful tune in a commercial sense is "Jump", but I'd hardly pick that tune as being the best of what the band represented.

It's fun when they have to pick on the country, isn't it?

    Goes something along these lines:

    Someone: *Witty riposte*

DHF and other losers: "Yes, well... hum... ah... you're a foreigner, you're not from the US, you know nothing, your country sucks, you are stupid."

    Ah, well... let 'em.

    Cheers! :bottle:

Hagar isn't lying about his "numbers" he's just stretching the truth a bit. He's always talking about sold albums while he was IN the band...that includes the classic sixpack which didn't stop selling after 1985 when Dave left the band.

So while we bought "fair warning" for the 10'th time to give it to a friend as a birthday gift or whatever, the fat fuck screamed "I sold an album!!!"

Yeah ? Whats up with that..
I guess you could compare it to Sammy Hagar's success.
Unless you live in America, who the hell is Sammy ?
Everyone here knows I have all the love in the world
for my American family. They are the most down to earth
people I've ever met. Yet I occasionally stumble across
the deluded ones that dont realize the planet is comprised
of many wonderful countries, not just the USA !

For the record, I love the USA, outside of Australia I
spend more time there than any other country..
Dont know much about DHF, but he does seem a tad
narrow minded if he thinks the world is only America ?
You dont know what you got unless you have a look
around ! America is spectacular, no argument, but
there are countless countries that have natural beauty
equal too, or if not better than the US..

Seems a pointless pissing contest ?? Reminds me of
that Dennis Leary song "Asshole"... Yes there are some
Americans who have that attitude, but thankfully there
are just as many with open eyes, and open minds.

Fuck it, every country on Earth has its own great uniqueness..
Every country has its own beauty. If DHF thinks the US is
awesome because its the only country on Earth that recognizes
Hagar, then God Bless Him and his limited perception of global musical
    opinion.
