Whaddaya mean, you almost didn't? You ARE supposed to take it seriously. I mean, they changed their names, and everything. Legally, even. They're 100%, full-fledged, old school rock n' roll. It's serious business, Steel Panther is. Check the 'Steel' in the name. That should give you a hint. Steel. Can't get any more serious than that.

And the lyrics? All rock n' roll. Chicks, booze and... well, rock n' roll.

They're certainly nothing to laff about.

Here's the story guys. Ralph's band Steel Panther signed a deal with Universal music well over a year ago. While they were finishing up recording their album, it became obvious that his committments to that project were not going to allow him to sing for the Atomic Punks anymore. In late August of 2008 he informed us that he would not be able to do shows anymore come Jan. 2009. We were fortunate enough to find Ricky right away! We flew him out in October to play a show in Santa Barbera,Ca. and he became our new singer. The one thing that's gonna be impossible to do is "replace" Ralph, we weren't looking for another Ralph Saenz. You cannot replace a guy like that. Ralph is one of the best entertainers/frontmen in the business period, whether it's Atomic Punks, LA Guns, Boogie Knights, Steel Panther, anything!! What we were looking for was someone who could do the DLR stuff as close to the real thing as possible. For that, we are VERY fortunate to have Ricky in the band. I don't think there's anyone else out there who could have filled the spot like Ricky has.
As a band, we wish Ralph & Russ Parrish (our 3rd guitarist) all the best possible with Steel Panther. They are currently kicking major ass on a tour in Japan and having HUGE success in England. Their album "Feel The Steel" is supposed to be out in the U.S. in October.
For us in the Atomic Punks, it's business as usual, we just wanna continue perfoming Van Halen for people at the level they expect. And that's what we will continue to do, the show must go on, we are professional musicians and we still need to make a living. We have played some huge shows this summer and everyone's reaction to Ricky has been phenominal! We are fortunate that people enjoy what we do and really appreciate all of the great comments and support over the years from everyone.
As for the other VH Tributes that wanna claim we are no good anymore without Ralph?? I think our video and audio speak for themselves. The fans will be the ultimate judge.

But you're killing me Joe, when in the fuck are you guys coming to the Mid-Atlantic ?? I see on your schedule your hitting PA and NY. That's a little too long a haul. Personally, I live in Virginia Beach, but hell, my 15 year old son and I would gladly do the road trip up to D.C., or down to Raleigh/Charlotte in order to finally see you guys live !!!
