Does anyone think Brett Farve is a HUGE douchebag?

I don't think Brett Farve had any attention signing with the Vikings or playing this season!, He can't accept his time is up, and can't stand being out of the spotlight with a big ego, thus must spread rumors so the media keeps talking about him. I hope we heard the last of Farve until he is inducted into the HOF or the Packers retire his number, but somehow I have a feeling he is going spread another rumor about coming out of retirement and playing by either week 1 or next season to get back into the spotlight!

What else could he fucking want?, He has his money, Broken records, MVPs, and Super Bowl ring, his spot in the HOF!, there is no reason he should even consider coming back.

I think, recently, the main reason has been spite.

    hopefully, he's gotten over that.

Won't happen - Big john is retired.
Farve looked decent with the Jets last year. Still has a gun for an arm.
    The Vikings could use him.

My problem with the entire ordeal was: ALL THAT BULLSHIT, TO SAY HE WASN'T PLAYING! Yes, I think that qualifies as a complete douchebag.

Don't forget the cryptic little zinger he threw in at the end of his "announcement" about coming back later in the season if a team asked him. And Farve continues to exercise and work out with high school kids to remain in shape.

I won't believe this guy is retired until I hear his speech in Canton, Ohio.

Remember that Michael Jordan used to do the same thing...retire, then unretire the next year, but he never left a team hanging like Brett does every offseason. Time to let it go, Brett, your legacy is more than secure at this point.

Report: Favre to get $12 million for one year
Posted by Mike Florio on August 18, 2009 11:24 AM ET
Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports reports that the Vikings will pay Brett Favre $12 million for one season of football with the team.

That matches the amount Favre earned in 2008 with the Jets, and it's only $1 million less than what Favre was due to make under the final year of his contract, which the Jets acquired last year via trade.

Cole's report contradicts past suggestions that Favre would receive an incentive-based contract that paid him based on his ability to play and/or his success.

Looks like Brett just didn't want to go to camp....

Still a lot of drama for nothing.....

He does make the Vikes better then with Sage R or TJ.

When does Minn play GB next? They may need to switch that to Sunday or Monday night.

    The Lord has landed
Posted by Mike Florio on August 18, 2009 12:41 PM ET
Brett Favre has arrived in Minnesota, with Vikings owner Zygi Wilf's plane landing in St. Paul earlier this hour.

A reader in the Twin Cities says that KSTP-TV is covering the event like it's a slow-speed Ford Bronco chase, with helicopter cameras showing Favre getting off the plane and then following the SUV into which he climbed as it made its way to the team's headquarters.

    ++++

Judd Zulgad of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports that Vikings fans have "stormed" the team's facility in conjunction with the arrival there.

[UPDATE: Kudos to the reader who coined the phrase "Favrestock" in the comments.]

Writes Zulgad, on his Twitter page: "Favre has arrived and it looked like he was with Childress. Issue was lack of security as fans stormed Vikings property."

A reader says that traffic was backed up, with people parking their cars at the side of the road and heading directly to the building.

    ............

Follow all Farve...all day at PFT....lol...

I had a feeling he didn't want to go to camp. It has been a mess, but I think the media may have made more hype out of it than anything else. He never really came out and said he was coming back. It was speculation all along the way. He gave one interview where he said he may come back, but never really said he was prior to that when the media was blowing it up.

The first time these two meet will be Monday night week four in Minnesota. The second time will be week eight in Green Bay, currently scheduled for 1pm.

I cant figure why Minn. wouldn't have tried to get Vick...that would have been a nasty backfield..and Vick would obviously be a cheaper long term deal.

Already making excuses for his poor play by whining about a tear in his rotator cuff.

    He's calling the coach 'Chilly'?
As if this whole situation lent itself to Childress garnering any respect.

'Chilly' is going to be on the unemployment line come the end of december...
I bet they go no better than 8-8.

I starting to believe that there is something really wrong with Farve. First he (purposefully) avoids training camp only to announce himself as the latest member of a dismal team so desperate to take him and second he shows up at his press conference unshaven and looking like serial killer.

WTF is wrong with this guy? He changes his mind more than a woman! He's now retired and came back with two different teams two years in a row? Why can't this fucker retire and stay retired?

To answer the title of the thread, yes, I believe that Favre is now officially a DOUCHEBAG.

well, at least now the queens have the third best qb in the division, assuming cutler has somebody to throw to in chicago.

    Clearly past his prime.

Proof will be in the performance which is as yet to be seen, but how many more years can he honestly compete at a level that justifies all this "I'm retiring...no, wait a minute, I'm ready to play again" nonsense?

He can still throw, but his chances of exiting the game with grace and dignity are pretty much nil now. He's at an age where every game he plays just by default of him playing is a case of diminishing returns re: his own level of excellence and that of the team he is playing for. I mean, honestly, if his rotator cuff is damaged, he's not on the right side of the age arc where he's gonna rebound quickly.

Seems as if he just can't let go. Understandable in some ways, but selfish in others.

    To answer the thread's question:

Yes, I think Brett Favre is a a HUGE douchebag. Evidently he has major problems making decisions. At least big ones.

Farve just needs to buy a car dealership or a fucking tavern or something. Yeah, I'd have a hard time giving it all up too. But there comes a point where a lot of athletes burn out emotionally and lose passion before they lose their ability to play and endure the aches and pains of the aging athlete. Not Farve.

I admire Farve's enthusiasm and love for the game and even his inability to say "uncle." But the way he's whoring himself out to any desperate team wanting some sort of a consistent QB is embarrassing, especially since going to the Vikes is clearly just an "F-U" to the Packers. I think Shakespeare wrote in King Lear something about being "old but not wise."

Farve is a frat-boy rookie pushing 40. And yeah, he's looking like more an more of a typical petty jackoff..
