I use this name all over the internet, so if you've heard of The Elfoid_TFS before, it's me again. I don't normally mention that, but someone from the Blaze Bayley forums has already recognised me on here, and I didn't expect that to happen. Just call me Elf.
I'm a young (just shy of 20) year old British guy. So my knowledge of David Lee Roth, Van Halen, and all related topics is largely a retrospective, historical thing. My collection of appropriate media is pretty slim I'll admit - I've got Van Halen, Van Halen II, 1984, 5150, For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge, Best Of Volume I, Chickenfoot and Skyscraper (that's the version of Skyscraper with the two Crazy From The Heat songs tacked onto it). And yes I know some of that's Hagar stuff, but hey, might as well put it in here. I've read a hundred VH websites and magazine articles and own the 2008 updated edition of the "Everybody Wants Some" book. I have a bunch of bootlegs too....VH US Festival '83, Roth gigs from 86, 88, 99 and 04, and two VH ones with Sammy from 95....I really mean to get some CVH ones but just haven't gotten around to it.
For my age, I'd say I've seen a lot of major bands. In terms of the classic rock/oldschool metal field you guys probably dig, Iron Maiden, Velvet Revolver, Heaven & Hell, Aerosmith, Motley Crue, Def Leppard, Whitesnake, ZZ Top, Status Quo, Chris Cornell, Crowded House, Peter Gabriel, Motorhead, Saxon, AC/DC, Megadeth, Judas Priest, Helloween, Iced Earth, Thunder, Wishbone Ash, Tygers Of Pan Tang, U.K. Subs, Squeeze, Eddy Grant, Girlschool, Annihilator, Overkill, Destruction, Soulfly, Praying Mantis, Blitzkrieg, Tesla, Anvil, Lawnmower Deth are among the bands I've seen. My favourite music tends to be blues rock, electric blues, the heavier, dirtier side of glam metal - 80s-era Crue, W.A.S.P. and Ratt for example - and NWOBHM. But I dig a ton of stuff other than that (like Van Halen!).
Hell's teeth...what else? Oh, most of you are, I imagine, American or Canadian, yeah? Well in September I'm gonna start reading American & Canadian Studies so anyone who knows a lot about history, economics, politics, film or literature let me know so you can help me get ahead of the game or get help when the course gets tough! I'll be studying at the University of Birmingham <3
