When the software approximation of cabinet damping effect is called "emulation" instead of the proper term "estimation" I get a little leery of such boldness.

According to all the major manufacturers the term "emulation" (or "simulation") works just fine..your leeriness not withstanding.

My curiosity now is, since my amp's power section is going to be involved in the direct-recording scenario, if I add Recabinet's power section emulation into the equation is that going to be too much coloration, or would it sound like a slaved amp that's been cranked? Hmmm...

Yeah, of course I play. My only contribution would be that I've never heard electronics, or digital effects, or emulation that sounds as good as pure sound. I think they're all bullshit. They were bullshit 20 years ago, and after all this advancement, they're still bullshit.

I didn't listen to the sound clips...but that's kind of silly in itself. I'm going to listen to a sound clip through my 1" computer speaker of a digital system that's attempting to sound like a Marshall cab...and you want to know if it sounds like a Marshall cab? Hmm... I wonder how that's going to go. But I did play through a similar thing a few years ago, and it sucked.

Probably a cleaner mix of both, if they had an unusable setting like that which was too muddy it probably wouldn't be an option.
