Is the game you are getting for free going to be the same game you get when it comes out? I mean can you sing on it and play the drums? I've never owned one but i do have a wii. I'd like to get the eddie guitar and whatever accessories they'll have for it. Do you guys think i should wait or just buy gh3 or whatever the hell it is and then get the VH one for free?
I guess what i mean is I don't want to spend 50 on the GH3 and then get the VH one for free but then realize that there is a deluxe edition of the VH one that comes out in December that costs the same.

by the way. Van Halen sucks, I'd like to see them do something maybe a new album or something. Van Halen hasn't put out a non greatest hits album in how many years? At least Dave kept working w/ DD.
Got my free copy in today. Lots of fun. Yes you can sing/play bass/play drums.
They have a VH soundboard where you can play some clips of songs (I think guitar only) which is cool. They have lyrics to all the songs on the game too, the songs play while the lyrics show, also cool.
Also songs that fade out on the albums do not fade out in game, so you can hear how they ended the songs, some of which are strange, some of which are cool.
All in all great game, I'm really enjoying it. You don't have to play the non VH songs to unlock more VH songs (if you're good enough at Guitar Hero)
Playing it on expert, so far the mappings are fun and the number of notes on solos match what you hear, the songs themselves are very fun to play
Cool! My buddy has a copy coming this week... I can't wait!

Just got the game in the mail over the weekend.
It fucking ROCKS!
Some of the GH franchise leaves a little to be desired, but they did it right with Van Halen (with the notable exception of no Michael Anthony.)
The sound is awesome, they even threw in some cool stuff (an extra DLR scream here and there, notably in the intro. to "Unchained.")
In a lot of the songs, you can hear the crowd singing along with the chorus.
A lot of fun, and the EVH parts are as hard as you'd expect them to be on "hard" and "expert" settings.

Haven't posted in a while, but... My Van Halen Guitar Hero came yesterday. I've been paying guitar since I was 13, and at points I could play all the CVH. Guitar hero is a rythm game, just for fun. That said, the whole family is playing a game together while listening to CVH at loud volume!
They re-mixed the sound and it sounds very good. They also added some "live audience" stuff on certain songs and I think they might have thrown in some different tracks (i.e., on particular songs the backing vocals sound a little different, and on one in particular Dave's screams were a little different). Some of the songs go on to the "real end" instead of fading out.
I would have preferred to have seen MA in the game. They also start out with them as they look today. My son saw Wolf and the guys with short hair and asked why they all looked like kids playing.
My wife said the bass parts are too easy.
It is a marketing vehicle for the new touring, and it is only a rhythm game, but it's still a lot of fun.
I have to befriend some teenagers cause I really want to play this game - the trailer for GHVH just blew me away - two notes though - old school Ed doesn't really look like Ed and the hair looks like claymation- and Watching Alex play the drums is weird - there's no force behind the strikes - just looks like he's touching the drums with the sticks. Does not make me want to make ah ass of myself playing this any less.
