Van Halen is hitting the road this summer for the first time in eight years, and drummer Alex Van Halen and vocalist Sammy Hagar promise it will be well worth the wait. "This set we're playing right now is better than any set we ever played before," Hagar said during a teleconference today (May 27). "I used to be a little sensitive to the old material, but I'm not now. We have a whole different outlook o_n everything. Let's make this the greatest songs the Van Halen fans have ever heard. The set list will kill you!"

Although neither artist would reveal specifics, the show will find Hagar singing many more songs from Van Halen's David Lee Roth era than he did during his first stint in the band. "I'm really digging 'Jump' right now," he said. "In the old days I never got off o_n singing that song. I would pull a guy out of the audience to sing it. Now, I want to sing this song better than it has ever been sung. I'm tearing it up!" He also insisted "there's a couple of surprises in [the set], o_ne in particular that is completely oddball."

Well this tour will for sure suck. Hagar can barely sing his own songs good, without looking like a fool. Now he's gonna try doing his best David Lee Roth impersonation by killing some classics live. My God, the only reason hagar would do this, is because he is told to. He cant sing Dave tunes. We all know this except him. The reason is simple, he has to, to sell tickets. Nobody likes Van "Hagar". People Love Van Halen. Hagar, then to a greater extent Cherone ruined any potential build this band could've had. But instead they rested on their laurels, got fat, sued some people, lost a wife or two, found a kid or two, got drunk alot and then decided they were running out of money. And who would Ed pick to front the band? Dave would be difficult and take a control lead in the band- but he would be the golden ticket to making them rich and we're talking stadiums, world-wide rich...But Hagar is easy push-over pussy who would love to suck the dicks dry of Al and Ed... This is why we have to endure this bullshit Best Of...and Craptacular tour.
Ed didn't want a nastolgic band? I say that's where the $$$ is Ed. It's not in your quality music writing. Didn't Warner send the shit back twice and make them hire a lyricist? I'd rather the original line up, even without new tunes, just to tour. Is that too fucking much to ask?

Screw Jump. I can't stand the way Sammy sings that tune. They play the same old VH tunes with him, Ain't Talking About Love, You Really Got me, Panama and Jump. How about Unchained, Mean Street, Hear About It Later, I'm The One, Somebody Get Me a Doctor, And The Cradle Will Rock, and so on..

Fatty Hagar doesn't want to sing the old shit. It's obvious, when they toured with Cherone they did alot of old shit, now we're back to Jump.

If i were dragged into seeing a Van Hagar show, I wouldn't want to hear Hagar sing so much as one Dave song and ruin it in my head for the rest of my life. I actually wish he WOULDN'T sing any Roth material but everyone even stubborn ol' Eddie knows that people there really want Roth. Ed's just hoping that Hagar will be "good enough" to sell a reasonable amount of tickets because it's clear to me he just really, really can't stand Roth anymore. To the point that he just won't put some fucking closure on classic Van Halen.

But for the people who are going to the show and actually like Sam I think they deserve a few old tunes thrown in besides Panama and Jump. Then again the people who love Fatty Hagar don't deserve the old tunes like the ones I listed.
