What was the name of the opening band throughout the last tour? Reggae influenced, if I remember correctly. I wouldn't mind snagging an album; I remember thinking that they were pretty good.

This brings up another thing. Who would be a good band to open for the next tour? I would like to see someone like Sevendust.

I would really like to see them with a solid / known act as opener. They ALWAYS get some no name. My pick for a possible 2010 tour?
CHEAP TRICK
Awesome live, VH fans will know & enjoy the songs, and they won't outdo VH.
Or, better yet bring Michael Anthony back & let Wolfie & his band open up.

For the most part, those days are long gone, feel fortunate they're playing two hours...
There are exceptions though....
For Rush's 30th anniversary tour, they started at 7PM, played until about 9PM, took about a 20 minute break (with animated video), then played until 11PM....
Would VH attempt to do that ?? Doubtful....
Ok, then have topless chicks making out on stage before =VH= fires things up. If you want to have some band up there playing while the girls are busy I'm ok with that.

Ratt's new album will be out late this year or early next year. They can't headline anymore. Maybe VH can work them in somehow. I would just like to see someone from the same genre open for VH. Although Ratt came later, i think they would still be a good fit.

Yeah, me too, in Toronto. AIC bombed, big time. The audience hated them.
So much so, that when they were done and walked off stage, Layne Staley actually came back out (with a cast on his leg, I remember), and said "I just want you to know, you're the WORST fucking audience we've ever played for" and stomped back off.

Hasn't that always been the way with Van Halen? At least, until Dave left the group anyway, at which point Van Hagar wisely started using slightly higher-profile opening acts (and themselves opening for Bon Jovi).
Dunno if it was a function of the band just ensuring they wouldn't be upstaged or whatever, but the last tour was no exception; no offense taken to anyone who enjoyed them, but was anyone actually going to see Van Halen in 2007-2008 for the opening reggae act?
Frankly, after that last tour, it wouldn't hurt Van Halen to look into getting a well-known and competent band to open for them.

Of all the drama with Van Halen over the last 20+ years, that ranks up high for leaving a really bad taste in my mouth. Jon Bon Jovi still sites VH opening for them as "knowing they had finally made it huge"...and..."Were the biggest rock band in the world".
UGH!!!
I fucking hate Bon Jovi.
ps - Jon, Van Halen never opened for you...Van HAGAR did. Please put an asterisk on that achievement of yours you douche bag.
Yeah, it is a bit lame that the name "Van Halen" was associated with an act that once opened for Bon Jovi, but the band (such as it was) brought that upon themselves by intentionally taking the music into a sissified direction.
This would be a fine choice...

Drop any thing DLR or =VH= would not do or put on their private label.
That regay was so obvious...
a polka waltz band would have been better.
Give it to Wolfie's choice.
Maybe,Wolfie would nod those Oriental females I found under his name.
