That isn't necessarily true. Consider if it happens to be a multistory building or home. If you are trapped anywhere above the second floor, you could always heave ace out of a window. That way you could have something to land on to break your fall. The downside being of course, that it might work like a trampoline and fling you right back onto the burning building.
