Also @2:50 the riff from SBGMD exactly the same way Ed did it!

Oddly enough, the rhythm section split this band and went on to play with Zakk Wylde in Pride & Glory. When that group fell apart, the bass player (James LoMenzo) wound up touring and recording with David Lee Roth, and believe it or not, Megadeth.

It was a DLR EVH rip off from the get go I always thought. He had the VH11 hair going on also.

No kidding. It's stuff like this that paved the way for grunge to take over.

I agree... although I was a big fan of the grunge movement.. we got great bands like Alice In Chains and Smashing Pumpkins from it... it was time for a change, the hair rock movement has killed itself by the late 80s for sure... guitar had to get back to a more organic state, IMO.

It all became a bad VH parody. There were so many bands like that. What they all missed was the blues and swing type thing VH had going. Ed had some blues in him (probably the Clapton infuence), and Al had a jazz drumming thing going, Dave had his vaudeville and Al Jolson type thing, and Mike could blend in with all of it, with both his bass and voice. It was more than hammer ons and playing fast. Much more.

Many of your best rock drummers are actually jazz drummers. Alex played drums in his dad's jazz band and Niel Piert considers himself a jazz drummer first. That's where the improvizanation and texture comes from.

Heck, somebody had to be on the road doing Ed's job since Ed wasn't gonna do it..
