I know the story is at least partially false, because at that time, Ed was playing on a Stratocaster. It was white with a white pickguard and two single coils and a humbucker, though some pictures show three single coils...

Classic Van Halen Gallery and Multimedia - Ed & His "original" baby - Powered by PhotoPost

Ed didn't acquire an Explorer-shaped guitar until 1977, and it was an Ibanez Destroyer-lawsuit guitar. On the tracks for the first and third albums, any song that did not include a whammy bar dive was done on the Destroyer, which he cutely called "the Shark." In Running With The Devil, the opening guitar gliss was done behind the Tune-O-Matic bridge at the stopbar. To this day, I cannot recreate this sound whatsoever with my guitars behind the nut.

Do I really need to continue this for the sake of proving Gar wrong?
Reading Crazy From the Heat in four hours flat, in a cramped RV, on the return trip of a 3,000+ mile family outing to New Jersey is an enlightening experience you'll never forget.

Don't worry about it, VHF5150...he'll be back to own himself later...
But it conceivably could've been his then-neighbor Chris Holmes' Ibenhad Destroyer he used to borrow regularly...unlikely, though.

Actually, if you think about it, that scenario is FAR more believable...

I mean you come in here about the time in 2003 when Hagar goes on tour with VH or whenever that was to have a shitfit, and you seem to be stuck shitting yourself ever since.

It may help to actually read what some people here have said over the years instead of just attacking any opportunity you see fit.
Whatever, Goof. Who gives two shits about you and what you think.

So when you had Eddie's guitar on your "workbench" did you remind him that he taught you those cords.....now how long after that did he sell that guitar to Mick Mars?

Because in your lack of intellect and the power of Wikipedia, o grateful one, I know for a fact that Ed didn't play on an Ibanez Destroyer in the club and backyard days. He played on a Les Paul Custom with sunburst finish, and more often than not he played on an old Strat. This was before he purchased his Frankenstrat from Boogie Bodies, however.

He didn't get the Destroyer until before the first album, and, like i've already said, he played on it for anything that didn't include a whammy bar dive.

    A sphincter sez what?

All YOU have to do is do some research on the net and you can see for yourself.

Oh, I forgot, you were Ed's best friend back in the late 70s, right?
