Anyone gass'in for the 25 Anniversary PRS Models?

    http://www.prsguitars.com/25thswampa...lnf/index.html

These guitars are not just for Lawyers!
I am gassing for the Swamp Ash Special or the modern Eagle 3 with the Narrowfield Pickups

    Anyone else?

Funny, back in the day that's all I ever sold them to... Seriously, it was weird! Back then, it was more the guy who wanted to be able to SAY "I spent $15K on that" rather than actually play the thing...

One guy I teched a couple of times in '06 for had/has an endorsement and swears by them, but I've never been able to get into them myself. They do seem to have caught on a bit with actual players than in the past these days, I've noticed.

Though the Swamp Ash one might be cool... seem to recall the last version of those I tried being the only one I've ever kinda liked..

So... you gonna drop for one, SARGE, or just GAS'ing?

    They aren't all available yet.
I am going to get one.
I have a Swamp Ash Special before... it was really nice! A Breeze to play!
You can usually get 20% of of the MSRP if you deal with a sales rep.

I think some of the 10 topped PRS models are for show. I don't want to pay extra for all that flash.
If I get a Modern Eagle 3 it will have a trem.
I think I am going to get one..

i'm not that great a player so i don't need that much guitar.

however, if i was that good, the whole "Creed plays PRS" thing turns me off.

I like their woods but what never got me was the same bowling-ball finish the whole industry's turning towards: UV-cured polystyrene.

I don't like it. It gives me the feeling this is nothing different than an 80's St. Louis Music strat-copy with yellow-black Zebra graphic.

I like the smell of lacquer when I pull something out of the case, it takes me back to my first Strat or Gibson and my brain starts coming up with ideas of where I want to play first.

Super-thick, super deep Styrene clear coat finishes are pretty and all but that's why I don't like 'em.

    Gar,
PRS Makes Nitro and Poly finishes
The 2 guitars I posted above both have Nitro finishes.
I generally don't like thick poly finishes...
However I can't notice a difference in the tone.
I certainly like the feel of poly on the neck though..
    Breasts,
    Sarge

I was aware they used to do nitro lacquer, they must offer it on their higher end items.

Nitro is porous on a micro-scale.. while the other resins are solid like rubber or bowling ball and it may be "psycho-acoustics" or "I think I hear loss" kinda thing but I dont like heavy poly.

I can tolerate it on a body, but have removed them from my necks.

I'll be posting the video of my Mex tele showing how easily polystyrene melts off with a simple putty knife and a heat gun when that projects' done. I mean, you can tap THAT body now, and you hear a loud resonant knock like a door, whereas before it was more a thud, like a cardboard box.

I do believe there is a difference in finishes, both in how they feel, and how they let the string move the wood based on experience. Not as some of these jokers say Wiki or google.

Why not just have "Lefty" post a video of you throwing yourself under a bus?

I tried to have her help me to do the video all about the Whitworth thread problem in the older Marshalls, and she fucked it up arguing while I was working.

Dude, females don't get the gear thing. If they had a choice to either hold a camera while you dicked around inside your speakers OR pawn your shit for some new fingerbling in the rings display, they'll get the fingerbling.

My chick ain't cool. She gots to go!

I just go through the store and play the guitars and pick the one that sounds and plays the best. What's funny is I have a GREAT sounding Stratocaster that get's great sustain and resonates like your wouldn't believe and it has a three bolt neck and a very thick finish. Both are supposed to be tone killers but not in this case.

I can tell if a guitar is good without even plugging it in. the first thing I do is hit the big E string hard and feel the body and neck and see if they vibrate the same. If they don't I move onto the next one. Then I play the good ones and listen to the raw tone. If a guitar doesn't sound good unplugged nothing you do past that will fix it. You have to have a good sounding piece of wood and then go from there.

One sales person at Guitar Center was amazed that I didn't even plug the guitar I bought into an amp. I didn't need to and when I got it home I was happy.

Some say the 3-bolt jobs are sustain-suckers, but I love 'em if they're setup properly there is no loss.
