VAN HALEN Frontman Releases Original Paintings - Dec. 1, 2009
David Lee Roth has recently released dozens of his own drawings and artwork, which he calls "authentic originals and incompetent imitations." He offers them up as "an official answer to the question 'what do you do in your spare time?'"
The VAN HALEN frontman always been into art. Throughout his whole life, while touring the world, you could find him doodling on just about anything — setlists, tour riders, female body parts, etc.
He was always a major part of the visual side of VAN HALEN, and always tried to make the stage show "look like the music sounds." He designed stage clothes, orchestrated photo shoots, came up with the stage choreography, etc. He also had a hand in designing VAN HALEN's early tourbooks and a few of their t-shirts. So we're not too surprised to now have some more confirmation that he's a truly gifted artist.

I'm surprised how detailed some of them are. He is really good.

I was just telling Max how I'd love to get my hands on some of Dave's art. This stuff would look sweet on my wall, and how cool would THAT be?
I especially love the one of the hands that has the fingers toting weapons and it seems the right hand is "fighting" the left hand. Deep.

Did Dave mention any of his life long artistic interests in his book?
Dave can do what Grace Slick is doing in her old age. Paints and draws and sells them for money. We have one of her paintings hanging in our living room and of course it's of a white rabbit.
Yeah, these have been around for a long time. He showed them on his old site as well. I don't think anything is new.
He talked about his art on his radio show and says its inspired by Japanese tattoo art.
Very KEWL stuff..........
